Tourstage vs Bridgestone

Hi guys,

 

A little help if you can...I currently have Mizuno MP60's which have served me incredibly well for years, absolutely love them however they are getting a little worn - more or less in the centre of the face ;)

 

I've started looking for a replacement and I really like the look of the Tourstage 709 MC. Problem is, I'm in Sydney, Australia and I can't find anywhere that has them to have a look, let alone have a hit.

 

I can get my hands on Bridgestone J40 CBs which seem to be the closest thing to the 709s. Can anyone shed a little light on how these two compare/differ? Is there any difference in the actual quality of the clubs i.e. are bridgestone made in the same place as the tourstage?

 

Also, the bridgestone are about half the price...so I guess it boils down to this: if I try and enjoy the bridgestones, will the tourstage offer me any extra feel/performance etc that would justify the price tag?

 

One more little curve ball while I'm at it...apart from the obvious customisation options, would a Mizuno MP64 from yoro craft feel significantly different from the 64s I can demo from my local rep??

mate, I have the currently have the 709 MC's and a 709 CB 4 iron and MP69's, have hit the 64's quite a bit too in the past.

From a 'feel' perspective the Mizuno's win hands down in my eyes, have a much softer feel across the board (all subjective of course...). The 709's are by no means hard but but impart a slightly 'clicky' feel and sound at impact compared to Mizunos, and if you're used to the feel of Mizunos this takes a bit of getting used to.

The J40 is more like a 709 CB in design with the large diamond cavity back, and actually looks very very similar to the last generation 705 Type M iron, which is kinda makes sense as the general thinking is the Tourstage brand is one generation ahead of the Bridgestone branded equipment. The MC design is very different so I think the J40's will play more forgiving to the MC and have a slightly thicker top line.

709MC are pure irons though mate, stunning looks, but about as forgiving as my MP69's so play like a blade really.

From what i know of Yoro craft you're mostly buying cosmetic customisation options and the ability to define the grind, loft, offset, weight etc, so i doubt would 'feel' all that much different from off the shelf, but would be tailored to your exact spec so should 'play' better..
