Cheap In Orlando

Recommended Posts

So my dad retired to Orlando couple years ago and I'm finally able to go down and see him. He wants to take me golfing at a Disney resort course, but I really don't need nothing spectacular to enjoy a round of golf. I also don't want him spending a ton of money. We used to go golfing together a lot, but that was in 1983! Dad's in his 70's now and hasn't golfed since about 1985.....lol. I don't want to be holding people up or worse having dad hurt himself. Are there any inexpensive courses in the area that won't cost a fortune or be booked solid with "wall to wall" golfers? I really don't know what to expect as far as his ability and pace of play. But I do know it will be nice to play a round with my Dad! Planning on going in November.

Thanks for the help.........

I would go on golfnow and pick a florida resident rate on any of the courses not listed under the attractions tab. That way you can also see the tee sheet and if there are a lot of open tee times you know the course wont be jammed pack.

I second what goodputts said about Eagle Creek. One of my favorite Orlando courses and priced much less then the courses around the attractions. I do like Stoneybrook East too.

I mentioned in another post that the conditions on some of the Clermont courses have gone down, but price wise there cheap and I really enjoy the layouts. Legends in one of my favorites.

Its great that your dad is playing again and you will be playing golf together again after all these years. Enjoy.

Ditto others suggestions, utitlize golfnow. Unless you're playing later in the afternoon I'd expect a good amount of players at any golf course worth your time. (the ones listed in this thread).

Never played there myself, but IIRC there's a (former?) 55+ 60?+ course called Fairways if you want to avoid whippersnappers. I think they allow non AARP players, but doubt there's a lot of young jerks there any given weekend.

Osprey Ridge was my favorite, but that was sold to the four seasons and is closed for renovations.

Difficulty wise Lake Buena Vista is the easiest of the Disney courses. Forgiving wide fairways. Very few forced carries. Its a fun track and I really enjoy it

The childrens miracle network classic on the PGA tour was played on the Palm and Magnolia Courses. So yes their more difficult, but I wouldn't say unplayable for newbies or someone getting back into golf. The Palm course is currently closed for renovations and I'm not sure if it will be open by the time your here. Magnolia is a fun track too.

Waldorf Astoria is on Disney property, but isnt part of Disney golf. Its a great track with amazing conditions, but my opinion its the most difficult of all the courses on Disnry Property. Also, it's going to cost an arm and a leg. Doesn't sound like what your looking for.

If your dad insists on playing at Disney I think Lake Buena Vista will fit what your looking for.

As far as Disney is concerned, I don't know if you would have fun in Palm/Magnolia. You're expected to keep up the pace. There are rangers there and if you slow down they'll talk to you. Palm is closed for renovations right now. Magnolia is a tough course, so I recommend Lake Buena vista around this time. Play around 12-1pm and you will be in the clear.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
