Heading to Atlanta

Any great course suggestions?

Heading to ATL next week for a couple of days and suggestions on courses to play. I already called East Bank Club, can't play with out being a guest a of a member. :tongue: Driving down so i can pretty much, travel around the Atl area! My girl is heading down for a sorority convention, so I'lll be free all day for 5 days (cool) :ok: to play golf

I grew up in Atlanta and there are a lot of good golf courses.

 

My favorite local course is Stone Mountain Golf Club. They have 27 holes. Ask to play the "old 18 holes." I think it's called Woodmont. It is a Robert Trent Jones design and very pretty.

 

Bear's Best is just outside Atlanta.

 

Chateau Elan is about 45 minutes from downtown.

 

If I had to pick one, it would be Stone Mountain.

Where in Atlanta will you be???? North, South, or downtown???

Bear's Best is a must play at least once. Chateu Elan is nice, but they currently have one of the 18's closed for repairs. The other 18 is still nice if you can get up that far North. Depending on how much $$$ you are willing to pay, there are several courses in the Alpharetta area that are nice.

Let us know more specific which part of town you will be staying and we can give you more specifics. If you are up on the North end and want some company, drop me a pm. I am always looking for a game.

North, South, East, or West direction is pretty important as it can be difficult to cross town in Atlanta. Long commutes are pretty common.

 

Hopefully I'm not violating any rules, try the Last Minute Tee Times website. It lists most of the local courses as well as locations. (lmtt.com) add the www to the front of course. I've played most of the North and Nortwest courses. On the West side, the Frog or Wolf Creek would be my choice. Others not listed that are excellent courses are Woodmont in the North west and Reunion in the North east.

Theres a new course called Crystal lakes south of Atlanta 25 Min exit 221 south on Interstate 75 this is a great course about 7200 from the tips. There is the Frog west of Atlanta is a top notch course too.

It's called Stonemount . I am definately playing this one. It looks really nice.

Have any of the Georgia members played the Lake Arrowhead course near Waleska? I am traveling to Ga next week and will staying on the lake with family. What about other course North of Atl? Thanks.

I have wakeboarded on lake arrowhead, but never played the course.

 

Right in that area are Bradshaw Farms and I belive Woodmont are within 15 minutes of you right of SR 20. Both are nice, Bradshaw Farms has 2 courses.

Lake Arrowhead is built literally around the lake and is very much a position course. Definitely worth playing -- just remember that March/April are greens aeration months in the Atlanta area. check with the Pro Shop to avoid being surprised.
