Where to go up north Michigan? Schuss, Boyne or other for 8 guys for customer golf trip

Help!!! Every year we take 8 golfers from the office up north Michigan from Thursday to Sunday. We play 18 on thursday, 36 on Friday & Sat and 18 on the last day Sunday. We have been going to Garland every year but unfortunately the quality continues to slip. So we want to make a change.

We try to get the guys in their own private room. We could rent a few villas or a huge house or separate rooms. We like it to be a VIP type of a trip... meaning better courses and places to stay.

Next summer we will try some place new. WHERE? Has to be Michigan and preferably up north.

Looking for advise.

Richard

If you're looking for Golf, Lodging, Food, Beverage all on property {aka garland}, only other option I can think of besides those named in the title would be Grand Traverse Resort. In this humble opinion, all have their strong suits:
Shuss has the single best course {not named Bay Harbor, Kingsley, or Forest Dunes} in Cedar River, but the rest are average. Newer lodging options by the cedar river course are nice. Lodging at the mountain can be dated.
Boyne is prolly the best overall value for everything on site. Good lodging and food. Very good to spectacular golf courses. Hills and Ross course are very good. Moor course is good. Heather is really good. Bay Harbor Links/Quarry is spectacular. Sweet {regular contributor on all things michigan golf forum and a fitter at Boyne might be available to do a fitting as an added perk for your group.
GTR has The Bear, doesn't get alot of love, but I think it,s one of the best courses in Northern Michigan. Hosted the Michigan Open for many years. other 2 onsite courses are good, plus Lochenheath is 10 minutes and Sundance at A Ga Ming is 20 minutes. Kingsley Club is 40 minutes away.
Treetops will prolly be the cheapest.
A dream trip in my opinion would be;
Hit Kingsley Club for 18 on day one on the drive up. Drive 40 minutes to GTR and check in. On day 2, do the Bear and Wolverine onsite. Day 3 do Lochenheath and Sundance. On day 4 hit Forest Dunes for 18 on the way home.
Variable would be to drive 90 minutes to Boyne after Kingsley and do Heather/Hills on day 2 and Bay Harbor/Ross on day 3 and still hit FD on the way home.

These forums are out of control ... guys posting in the Style and Accessories forum requesting trip advice? Where are those moderators when we need them!

Personally, I enjoyed staying and playing at Bay Harbor, they've got quite a few cottages in a variety of sizes. And the Quarry and Links courses are top notch. Petosky has quite a few quality dining options and plenty of shopping for spouse entertainment.

Reread the OP, a VIP type experience would be to have Chef Lydon at Kingsley do a private dinner on the deck after your round.
The rooms, especially the upstairs suites, at Forest Dunes are really nice. Only prob is limited to one course without significant windshield time.
GTR, Boyne, Shuss, Treetops are typical resort style rooms, to the best of my knowledge.
Lots of exceptional private rentals available, but all would require windshield time to golf, food, beverage.

Are you talking lower michigan or upper michigan? Yooper country has some great golf too! I like Sweetgrass which is attached to a casino and you could stay there. Or even stay at Timberstone which is another one of my favorites up there. Don't forget Greywalls way up there though.

Lower Michigan. They don't want to make the drive for upper.

Forest Dunes is awesome but only one course so that won't work. As for the Chef coming to the room??? Nice but that is to VIP for me. LOL

Not the room! The clubhouse deck overlooking #1 and #9.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
