MIURA MB-001 Iron Review - Irons Available at Fairwaygolfusa.com

Recommended Posts

A little while back, we received our Demo MIURA MB-001. There has been a lot of speculation concerning the new blade, so we decided to review the iron. The new MB-001 has a slightly thinner topline, higher toe creating a more upright look. We tested the #6 iron shafted with a KBS Tour Stiff, measuring 38", and gripped with an Iomic Sticky 2.3. Our 2 testers are JDM fans and considering these irons for purchase.

Our First Tester was impressed with the classic looks, and solid feel. He said that the long irons might be pretty tough to hit if you are not on! He felt the iron is definitely for a feel player with a consistent swing.

Distance: 184

Accuracy: +26yds(right)

Launch Angle: 21.3*

Spin Rate: 3836

Looks: 4 / 5

Feel: 4.5 / 5

Sound: 4 / 5

Our Second Tester was a little tired after hitting balls before the test. He is a Miura fan who liked the looks of the new MB, and the feel is less "dead" than the Tournament blade. The new blade sounds great, and feels good also. The feel is soft, but not "dead" as stated before. Customer liked these MB-001 over all the other models, except the Series 1957 blades from Miura.

Distance: 176

Accuracy: +13yds(right)

Launch Angle: 21.5*

Spin Rate: 4091

Looks: 4.5 / 5

Feel: 4 / 5

Sound: 5 / 5

In summary, both testers were impressed with the new MB-001s are preferred them over the previous Tournament blade model, but the second tester preferred the Series 1957 blades from Miura.

Hi. I fit both. The general response is, As far as off set and presentation behind the ball. The KZG blade is a little more rounded at the toe. The KZG ZO blade has about the same toe height and top line, as the MB-001. The ZO off set is much less than the Miura or the KZG blade. The Mb-001 is a larger head than both the KZG blade and the ZO blade. The KZG blade is very close in size to the baby blade.
As far as feel and sound at impact, the KZG tour evolution is comparable to the MB-001.
The ZO is comparable to the Miura tour blade, and then I am not sure anything compares to the Miura baby blade. The KZG blade is really close though.
I do not fit other Japanese clubs, so I haven't a comparison.
These are all subjective responses from my customers. I have not seen a distinguishable performance difference between the Miura blades or the KZG blades.
As far as sales, the Miura blades hands down. The reason the KZG blades are not selling anymore, non conforming grooves. The ZO and tour evolution are conforming.
The KZG tour evolution out sell the Miura 501. The Miura 9003, great.
Not sure this helps.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
