Miura ... do Baby Blade users use K Grind wedges?

Since I don't play BBs - I guess that disqualifies me from commenting.

I play TBs. So I'll offer up my thoughts based upon that perspective.

I've built up a decent Miura wedge collection over the past year or so. They're all great but have different playability characteristics.

Current inventory listed in order acquired: 56K, 51Y, 60K, 57C(bent to 56), 52K.

The Ks have it all over the C&Ys out of deep rough, fluffy sand, pine needle type shots and pretty much any shot that you want/need to really open the face.

C&Y grinds really shine when conditions are firm. Nipping the ball, punch/knockdown and chip & check shots all seem better with C&Y.

All my shafts are identical. The 56K is noticeably longer than my 56C. No idea why.

My 60K is the only wedge that is always in my bag. I'll switch out the other 4 depening on conditions.

I rarely/ almost never use the 60 from the fairway for a full shot. My wedge game is mostly a punchy/knockdown/ fade kind of deal.

Hope this helps.

Lumber,

Awesome post. Thank you.

I've got a 57C bent to 54 and a 59C bent to 58. I 'tweeted' a question to Adam Barr, got a suggestion of a 52K. What would you think about that bad boy bent to 54?

Wow. 57 bent to 54.....'Tis a lot. They do make a 55C....

52K to 54 doesn't pose any real technical challenge but you're going to be exposing a lot more bounce. Just keep that in mind. Really depends on the type of conditions you're going to be playing. The good news is that if you don't like it.....you can always bend it back.

I bend to achieve 54 and 58.

I passed over the 55C because of the difference in offset between it and the 57C.

The added bounce on the 52K wouldn't be an issue ... I just want something that is gonna look like a Baby Blade to the eye with moderate bounce and 54 degrees of loft. What would be your suggestion?

Thanks again for the interaction!!

Can't comment on how much the 52K is going to look as comparded to a BB. Before I bought my TBs I ordered one BB 6 iron set up to my specs and tested for a few weeks. Felt great standing on a flat range with a perfect lie.....but ultimately decided there just was nearly enough steel at the end of the shaft for me to put them in play.

I'd probably go ahead and try the 52K and bend it. As I said before - it'll always bend back and if you don't like it in any configuration....BST is an option.

One final though: The scoops, flutes, knuckles ( whatever you call them) become less pronounce/deep as you decrease loft. That's surely got to hamper their intended effectiveness....but I supposed you've got ask yourself just how often are you going to really lay the face open on your 52/54K?

I'm all about a good golf experiment.....let us now how it goes.

Title says it all ....

To those of you who play Baby Blades, do you play K Grind wedges? Curious.

I have C Grinds and not enjoying them as much as I thought I would. K Grinds were suggested, any further notions?

Thanks!

I play the Y grind. The sole is entirely different. The C grind works great in sand traps. The K grind I like in heavy rough, long grass.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
