Pinehurst area golf question

Heading down to Pinehurst tonight for the weekend. Have my rounds for the weekend booked but need some advice for my round tomorrow.

If you had to pick between The Pit or Tobacco Road, which one and why?

Tobacco Road, usually in better shape and is more scenic IMO.

Tobacco Road is one of the top ten ranked courses in the state. Very unique course and fun to play.

Tobacco Road, no doubt about it. The Pit is cool, but it's sort of a poor man's Tobacco Road. The Road is in much better shape too.

Ok, one more quick question. Has anyone that has played Tobacco Road played Royal New Kent near Williamsburg, VA. I am NOT a fan of Royal New Kent and I am hoping Tobacco Road is more like Caledonia/True Blue than New Kent..

tobacco road is the most jacked up thing you will ever play!,but u have to play it once to tell people about it! it is the furthest thing from championship golf ever! i am a 5 handicap and i struggled to break 80!!! it is messed up!hahahaha

Tot Hill Farm - amazing.

 

+1 I loved that golf course, very different than most courses I've seen.

Just called Tobacco Road again, can't get on until late this afternoon so in two hours I'll be playing The Pit.

 

Tot Hill Farm is another Strantz design in Asheboro, NC

Try the Little River Farm course on 15/501 near the hospital...supposed to be a nice course.

FYI, played the Pit and Tot Hill Farm

 

Scale of 1-10 (10 being the highest)

 

The Pit gets a 5, course wasn't in good shape and the pace of play was terrible. Very long day, a marshal would have helped. The greens were soooo slow and the rough was awful, very dead and uncared for.

 

I did like the layout and will give it another try once it is warmed and the conditions are better.

 

 

Tot Hill Farm gets an 8. Course was in great shape and the layout was very cool. I am a traditionalist so not my cup of tea but the course was very easy on the eyes but not on the golf game. Had my share of pars and 2 birdies but I also had a couple of big numbers. Two drawbacks to the course: 1. Being penalized for good shots. 2. Nearly a SIX HOUR ROUND

 

2 days - 11.5 hours of golf, I am mentally and physically exhausted.

Yes!!! Little River...I couldn't for the life of me remember the name. It's been about 6 or 7 years since I've lived in Pinehurst, but that was one of my favorites. You should also check out The National, it's right down the street from Pinehurst 1-5.
