Stand Bag - leg mechanism

One that has sturdiest/firmest leg action.

I am interested in Ogio Grom, Mizuno GTO, PING Hoofer. One thing bothers me the most about stand bags is when the legs start to droop after short use. Can anyone comment/recommend the bag that has sturdiest, firmest leg action that lasts?

I've read that PING and Ogio have flimsy leg action. PING Hoofer has drooping leg mechanism, but I've heard it can be fixed.. (does it eliminate all of leg droop? and how?). Ogio seems to have adjustable leg mechanism that one can adjust the firmness, but I read Ogio leg mechanism is finicky. On the other hand, Mizuno seems well built.

Also, I know these bags have different ways of organizing clubs, and have similar weight. I read rave reviews on Ogio and PING bags, but not much reviews on Mizuno bags. What is so good about them compared to Mizuno bags?

As of right now, Mizuno looks promising, because I haven't heard anything bad about them.

perfect stand mechanism, legs are strong. played 35 rounds last season with it and it still looks new. easy to upkeep and the club dividers arent bad either.

here is my experience... I walk most of the time and I hate it when I hear legs bouncing against the bag because they are too lose.

 

Ogio Vision SS - My current bag and one of the worst legs i've used. I really like the utility of the bag (lots of pockets at the right spot, woode system, shling etc), but I just can't stand the leg mechanism. I tried adjusting the tension by moving the plastic holder on the metal rod, and it is a bit better, but the legs get crossed... they really need to work on the leg design or I am not buying another Ogio bag.

 

Japan Titleist bag CBS51 - Very good leg. I used the bag for a year and it has one of the best leg I've used. I had to get rid of the bag b/c the full length divider ripped and my clubs were getting all tangled and was hard to pull the clubs out

 

Mizuno Aerolite - Also has very good leg (equal to Japan titleist bag), but I had to pass b/c it didn't have enough pockets and a drink holder (which is critical for walkers)

 

Sun Mountain SL 3.5 - My first bag, decent leg mechanism, but not perfect. A lot better than Ogio, but sub-par compared to Mizuno or Japan titleist bag.

 

I did a lot of research before purchasing my Vision SS and people did mention that the legs were not that great... I just didn't know it would be this bad. choose wisely~ :rolleyes:

Just wondering, Doesn't Sun Mountain make Titleist bags? I am assuming from the post that Japan Titleist CB551 is made by someone else?

 

Also, any comments on PING Hoofer Vantage leg mechanism compared to above mentioned?

I believe CBS51 is made by someone else. All the American bags are made by Sun Mountain. I tried Hoofer Vantage at a store but did not buy it because of grip sticking to one another (makes taking clubs out pretty interesting haha). As for the leg mechanism, it seemed more stable than Ogio bags. But I did hear couple people complaining about leg drooping on the older Hoofer Extreme (I think they use similar leg mechanism)

 

Also, look into Taylormade bags if you get a chance. I also used Taylite 3.5 before and the legs were pretty sturdy... I hated the color scheme...

 

After reading all the things I wrote about the bags, I guess I am a pretty picky about my bags... -_-;;; I am still in search of the holy grail of stand bags haha. (Ogio w/ Mizuno or Titleist Japan legs would just be perfect!!!)

I have a Hoofer Vantage and the legs don't droop. If for some reason they start to I think that you can bend the wires and they will adjust some. I know on some previous hoofers that drooping legs were a problem for some people, but the Vantage seems to be better.

I have the Ping Hoofer Extreme, and I have had no problem with the legs.

Agree with this post. My Vaporlite is a great bag for a lot of reasons, but it's legs are terrible and the bag is unstable when it's deployed. Blows over real easy, won't sit on hills. If you put the Callaway or Ping leg system on this bag it would be perfect.

I am using the Ogio Ozone - GREAT bag, horrible legs. Not really sure what I am going to do about it - live with it or get a different bag. My Sun Mountain 3.5 - had for 2 years and no problem with legs...

I went to Golf Smith today to try PING Hoofer Vantage and Mizuno GTO bags. In the store, PING and Mizuno bags seemed similar weight. Both great looking... Hoofer is a little bit better looking. Mizuno GTO's legs worked great and I like Kabuki. Also, GTO has mesh pocket on the left side for I guess water bottles. As for PING Hoofer Vantage, I tried to put full set of clubs in there and they fit nicely. I didn't really notice club sticking to each other as previous posters said. Leg mechanism seems firm, fast, and sturdy.

 

My question is.. will this seemingly good leg mechanism start drooping after couple rounds or short period of time?

I love Ping stand bags, but YES...my Hoofer Vantage has droopy legs!!!
