Great setup, R. Enjoy!

PS. I'm sure you saw the thread about AceOfClubs finally convincing Miura-san to build a 64-deg wedge. Man, that made my day! Mine is on the way.

I try not to be jealous of anyone.....BUT I'd love to have your employee discount.

Please review the new irons.

Since I know you've played the TBs could you give us an idea of the differences.

Thanks.

I did a little write up in Miura Questions http://www.golfwrx.com/forums/topic/946919-miura-questions/ a while back. As I said in there, it is really hard to quantify the difference beyond the fact that I hit the MB's a little longer in the air and a little higher that the TB's. It is hard to use the term "Forgiving" when describing blade irons but these new MB's actually give very playable mishits as long as you get it somewhere near the middle of the face.
The slightly larger head lends confidence IMHO...but they are still a blade and require some level of concentration to get the best out of them.
I played this morning at a local muni which was in really good condition...temp was 4* C so just a little above freezing.....took an extra club on all shots and ended up with 73 due to some good short game and a few great putts.
I have tested the MB's side by side with the PP 9003's I played for the past couple of years.....hitting from the top deck at our range I could see exactly where the balls were landing....same flight distance for both which is about 1/2 to 1 club longer than my TB's were. My usual miss with iron shots is a little thin but for some reason I do not seem to do that with the MB's....all my clubs are exactly the same spec so I ruled that out right away. Turf action seems excellent but it is a bit hard to say at this time of year....can't wait to play them in some nice warm dry conditions.
FEEL is such a subjective matter I tend not to dwell on it...... but these fell SO good to me and have been tried by lots of my friends....usual comment is along the lines of "Man those feel great" I would say...Really solid when struck good and almost buttery when pured....just a great solid iron in all aspects.

I'd forgotten about that thread. I'm locked in for the season with my irons and really have nothing but good things to say about the TBs. They work for me. I might give them another touch up with the black oxide since it's winter.

BTW, You're pretty tough FLOG. I call off golf when it gets into the 40s and will only play when I head down to Florida. Cannot wait for March so my golf season can start up again.

  • 2 weeks later...

It is hard to say about the distances at this time of year...cold balls, air, muscles etc....but I think the distances are the same 9003 vs MB 001....sweet set-up!!

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
