Golf Instruction near Pittsburgh

ekimdefekimdef Chip it closeAdvanced Members Posts: 122
I am looking to take some lessons around the Pittsburgh area. I have no idea where to start in order to find an affordable (for me) instructor. I am a 15 handicap but if it wasn't for my short game I would be more like a 18-20. I am in need of distance off the tee and major help with my iron play. Any suggestions of instructors? Pricing? I am not a member of any club or anything like that so everything I have seen was at driving ranges(40-50$ Mcdains or Vietmeiers)) or Pa golf academy(60 for 30 min). Thanks in advance.

    Yeppers, heda Man👍

As a Player, he's a stud and 2-Time Tri-State PoY, having Played and made cuts on both the Web.com Tour and The Tour, with of 30 Professional Victories including 2-Time at the Nationally prestigious Fuhrer Invitational(Like Sam always said~ Ideally, ya want a Teacher who knows what it's like to "swing under the gun" and understands the changes that occur when one does, be they Am or Pro,

And Kevin does) and He's a super guy who listens to you, talks with you not AT you and he's a Master Instructor out of Manzella's Academy. He's the DoGI at The Club at Nevillewood and is the only Player other than Bob Ford and Pete Snead to win both the Players PoY and Teacher of the Year in the same year.

HaHa, after Pete did his "twofer" he was gonna jack my fee up and I was the only student that he was gonna do it to and I already was picking up balls at his goat track/range to pay for lessons and I said WTF else could I do? He said "clean my car twice a month."

WTF, he was a good teacher, I wasn't the easiest student and I basically had lessons anytime I hit at the range which was 3-4 nights a week and he'd come out to the line. As I look back, I made out like a bandit but God did I hate washing his car, lol

    Anyhoo, Kevin's contact info is:

If ya do want two names, and though my first choice should be obvious, Devin Gee, Oakmont Pro who formally took over for Bob at the end of this past year would be right there. He's a fine Player and as Acting HP this past year, he got to Play as a marker in this past Open. He's a super Person, a fine Teacher(I've watched him give some lessons, one to a 15~ cap and the other a +4.3 past State Am Champion and he shifted gears effortlessly between the two).

You're not "settling" in any way shape or form.

Devin is a fine Player, Excellent Teacher and Super Person.

He was Hand picked by Bob to succeed him for chrissakes, lol.

Bob is THE Classiest Pro I've met in 49 years around the game.

This kid is a younger, blonder version of Bob, lmao

Call the pro shop at Nevillewood, he teaches there in the summer and they’ll have his contact info. He also teaches at the Neville island dome in winter, they may be able to get you his info.
