forged irons

tried and true

Ok people, started using forged irons 6 years ago, mizuno mp-33's, loved them to death. But after 2 years with them the chrome started coming off so I was upset and switched back to Ping i3's. Used them for maybe a month and couldn't help but miss the feeling of the mizunos. Back on the mizuno kick for 3 more years and occasionally pulled a set of Ping irons out of the closet (have a few sets) for a week or so and keep going back to the forged feel. Last year I bought a set of S59 Tours and used them all of last year with very good success (cannot say better success than the mp-33's because these hold my 18 hole record with them) but still miss the shiney chrome forged iron look in my bag and in my hands.

What to do? I am not saying that I cannot work the ball with either set of Pings worse than the forged irons but I just love the look, in the bag and at address better, of a forged iron.

Anybody else have this problem of just trying everything under the sun and going back to old faithfull?

Am I mental or what?

i am not sure, but i think u can get irons rechromed?

I know I can get irons rechromed and I can deal without them being perfectly chromed but I do need a little bling on my irons. I guess more or less I just needed to make a statement about the look and feel of a forged iron. They really are the best, if you don't mine a little less forgiveness.

i don't have my mizzy 23s right now......still in the shop.........but i was wondering if this is the same problem i'll be having with my 23s? like dmarvaso said, i need a little bling on my irons also.

are the 23s chrome?

you can get a forged cb... doens't have to be less forgiving.

I love the feeling and performance of forged irons, I simply have grown to accept the dings and rust to be part of the price you pay.

OTOH - there are a few cast irons that I'm a fan of, mostly Ping I3+, S59, etc. etc. not the same as a forging, but they DO feel good to me.

I know it is kind of stupid looking, but I use iron covers for mine. Down here is Pensacola we have alot of old oak trees with roots everwhere. All of the courses are just have paths at the tee and around the green. Bag Chatter can really wear them out fast. Like I said they kinda look stupid, but I just let my game speak for it's self.

Yes, the 23's are chrome.

From Mizuno's sit on the 23's finish:

"Durable double nickel chrome plated with mirror satin finish provides durability and eliminates glare."

Probably still not as durable as cast, but it's the price we pay for forged. :birthday:

First of all the Pistons rule. They WILL win the title! Second, yes I love the chrome MB irons. To me that is what an iron should look like. I just recently started golfing and every time I walk into Golftown and look at the wall of fame, Im always drawn to the blades. Time and time again I am steered away from them by the sales guys due to my percieved lack of golf ability. However I am a fast learner and I already consistently shoot in the 80's in this, my first year of golf. Irons seem to be my strong point and I really want to upgrade to the blades. They will be mine, oh yes they will be mine! However I think when I do make that step up Im gonna have to go custom all the way. I want my next set to be my last for atleast 10 years.

i am glad to see pistons fans coming forward. after all it took 3 years for the nba analysts to say that we are not always underdogs. maybe we will get national coverage even if we are not playing san antonio or miami. and another thing, we win the nba title, loose in game seven last year, and it still takes sports center midway thru the show to put our highlights on unless we play the other two mentioned above.

LOL buddy your preachin to the choir! I live in Toronto, even if our team was in the title hunt, highlights would take a distant to hockey and curling. Its ridiculous! I think the media still considers the pistons underdogs. They did atleast at the start of the season. so silly. Nice chatting, heres to the fall of the record! Pistons 73-9!
