Couple of questions please

Hey everyone,

So was at a scramble today and there was a former WLD guy there hitting tee shots on a par 4. Shortish hole over water. Long story short I hit 5 wood carry on green where he was hitting driver. He wasn't swinging long drive style but it got me thinking I may want to try my hand at it. I usually play a few usga or state am events per year with little success. I'm a scratch(ish) player. I can consistently get 180-185 ball speeds (flightscope) with my 10.5 Ping G30 at slightly less than 45" and don't really struggle with spin. Fairly positive aoa and pretty decent contact. I'm 29, 6'4" 190 (down from 205 not enough gym time since I've been married)

Now to questions.

1. If I go down this road will it ruin my competitive golf game or have any of you had success kind of keeping the 2 swings separate?

2. Would I have the speed to compete with a 48" club in theory?

3. Could I get away with an 8.5 G25 as I love the Ping heads?

4. Any rule of thumb or guess to what speed increase I could achieve by dropping 2 degrees loft and adding 3 inches driver length.

5. Where do you compete?

1. Many top LDers also have a great golf game.

3.2 things with a regular driver head,, loft needs to be low to be able to hit up on the ball to kill the spin , The 8.5* wont do that,,and also the head may not hold up

4. dropping loft wont increase swing speed the 3 inches varies for everyone with 3" you should gain 2-3 mph/inch ,,but some people it doesn't
