Ben Hogan Apex MB's Ebay listing info

Came across these on Ebay, as you do, and was after some more info as ive been after a set of late apex MB's for a while

These to me look like the 50th anniversary model, but no "golden anniversary" stamp.

They seem to have a satin finish, i thought they were all chrome, refurbed maybe?

Never seen just a sole/heel grind like that before, what would be the reason for it? just heel relief?

Any info appreciated, looking at the listing description i'm not sure the seller would know all these details

There were both standard Apex 50 heads and the same heads stamped “Golden Anniversary” on the back just below the topline. As you mention, the heel has been ground down for some reason and the heads do have a matte look to them. I’d guess that however decided to alter the clubs with new shafts and a ground heel probably just took a scotch-brite pad to them to knock the shine off. Personally, I think they are quite over-priced in this condition.

Agree with the comments. Also, DEFINITELY agree with the alternative irons. Even though they are more money, they are definitely worth it compared to the original listing that has been altered.
