Condition of Abu Dhabi courses

Planning to go to Abu Dhabi in March next year. Will be staying at the Westin hotel Abu Dhabi Golf Club but will also play the Saadiyat and Yas Links. Everything seems to look great however I have read some reviews saying that the course condition and specially the greens are usually very bad at ADGC in March due the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship. Anyone that confirm if this is true or not? Is March a good time to go to AD?

Hi, the courses are in very good condition in March. Abu Dhabi Golf Club at the Westin is always in a good condition. Let me know when and ill try to set something up. I'm a member at Abu Dhabi Golf Club. Will be in Oz though from 3 to 16 March.

Edit: March is still good for golf here. Only from May onwards does it become a strain if you're not used to it.

Thanks for the reply, sounds promising. Will be there 6 to 15 March, but thanks for the offer. Maybe next time:). How are the practice facilities at ADGC? Any areas for hitting wedges?

If you can, make your way to the Emirates Club in Dubai. I used to travel there a lot and was a member for 5 years. It is where they play the Dubai Desert Classic and it is a magnificent layout. Dubai Creek is also a nice course.

Golf in the UAE is one of the best in the world.

I'll be heading on vacation next year, but we always go in November.

Enjoy it!

Abu Dhabi doesn't have the depth of Dubai for sure, but really like Yas Links and Saadiyat Beach personally in AD. Abu Dhabi GC lacks some character to me and water maybe it as it is plentiful at both other venues.

For Dubai the new Trump course is something I'm looking forward to playing as I haven't yet and supposed to be very nice. Other than that the Majilis course and Jumeriah earth are the top two IMO.

I just played Abu Dhabi GC, Saadiyat and Yas and they are all 3 good in their own right in my opinion. I would be a member of Abu Dhabi GC even though it isn't better than the other two but they are murder playing them in the wind. If it is blowing a little at Abu Dhabi GC it is blowing a lot at Saadiyat and Yas. Yas is more highly rated but I think Saadiyat is the best of the 3 because of the bunkering and the layout. I think that all three are better than any course I've played in Dubai but Dubai has more courses. Basically the middle east is golf heaven especially this time of year !!

And it was blowing properly last week and the week before. Played out at Dubai Hills during one of those days. Drive it 330 then next hole 230. SMH.

Played Saadiyat yesterday - excellent condition (other than the bunkers because they still are not putting rakes out). Also played in 3:20 min...awesome.

Playing ADGC tomorrow & Yas on Thursday...back to Dubai for 10 days after. Got Montgomerie booked for 13th...nothing else yet - but planning Emirates (both courses & Dubai Creek + planning to attend the Euro Tour at least 1 day.

Nice break to finally get to travel - hasn't been too mad other than continual struggles with the Covid app (only applies to AD, in Dubai no one checks anything 😉)

ADGC in fantastic condition today...because they are hosting the Asian Pacific Women's Amateur the next few days.

Only bad thing was had to play basically the front tees, they had middle tees blocked for the tournament and not allowed to play behind due to all the signage.

Used to be a member at Abu Dhabi and Saadiyat Beach - summer is hot as hell but actually once you are out in it playing it’s not too bad - need to drink lots wear sunglasses and sun screen and stay shaded when possible- biggest issue is when you finish - enter the locker aircon - get your sweaty gear off - sit with a towel on and drink the lemon water available beside the TV area watch some sports for 20 minutes minimum on the sofa - before you hit the shower - start tepid/ warm and move slowly to cold shower- then sit down again for ten mins before changing - many (especially) older visitors who didn’t stick to this regime and jump in a cold shower straight away got thermal shock ( which can give you a heart attack) so if you deal with the conditions properly no worries but be careful in extreme heat - have played I n over 50 degrees C, if you manage it it’s fine. Maybe not that enjoyable though. Abu Dhabi and Dubai have spectacular desert golf.
