Hi, thanks for looking. I have an extended business trip coming up for the next 7 weeks in Schaumburg/ Itasca area, staying at the Westin. I will have my clubs with me, so I was wondering... (I am aware of Top Golf near me, and I have plans on visiting. Looking for “real golf” responses, thanks!)

Are there any nice heated/ covered outdoor ranges near me, and which are the best?

Any indoor golf centers?

What courses would be open and worth playing if I happened to get a day with decent weather?

Any golf shops worth visiting?

White pines dome in Bensenville would be closer.

I’d just check GolfNow for courses. Based on what’s showing open today, Orchard Valley in Aurora would be best option but it’s a hike.

Golf shops...PGATour Superstore on Golf Road. If you haven't been to one, leave your credit card in the hotel.

Range...as mentioned Golf Center Des Plaines. Heated bays...great short game practice area...9 hole, lighted par 3 course.

If you want a dome, go to Links and Tees in Addison. About 10 minutes away. If you see a shorter guy, that's Todd...make friends with him and just trust me its worth it.

Courses...eh...this time of year it's spotty. If you just want to play, Highland Woods about 15 minutes from SchaumVegas is usually open. Fox Run as well. Don't pay more than $25 for them. Nicer courses are generally closed unless it gets even warmer. Check to see if the Highlands of Elgin is open. Top 5 course in the area.

Place where you can sit at the bar, get a great steak and glass of wine...Wildfire. Solid food.

No almost everywhere allows you to walk. Hilldale is near you. Always can be found on the cheap and usually open as soon as it’s decent.

I would be hesitant of golf center in des plaines if it’s under 40 degrees the space heaters can only do so much. Highland woods as previously mentioned is typically open year round, it is wide open like swing out of your shoes type. But conditions not great and good chance you get stuck behind some slow pokes. Highest elevation in cook county which is laughable but I always go there early in the year because it’s the driest after snow melts and spring rain etc.

There’s obviously much better courses but most don’t open until it’s been nice for a couple weeks. Those would be the closest ones that are open and mildly entertaining.
