if you would could you explain what Havey Penicks meant when he wrote in the little red book ......".i like to see you hands toward the inside of your left thigh on every shot but the driver" ....what does that do for you as well ..... the reason I ask when I first started playing back in 96 a young instructor had me put the butt of the club on my left thigh when would take my address ...for years I played that way and my iron play was strong point ,until I went to a golf camp and haven't played that well since ( another story ) ,,,Oh by the way I bought the book years ago and never read it until yesterday when I read that part

It means just what it says. Hands forward of center at address. Interesting Sam Snead advocated the same thing. He called it putting your hands in the holster. Not my cup of tea but lots of good golf has been played from there.

I would think this would put your left arm and the club more in a straight line instead of a triangle. Nicklaus and Tom Watson set up this way. To me it's a bit contrived, but hey there is more than one way to skin a cat. The key to many swing styles is to make sure the parts match.
