Butt soft iron shafts

Recommended Posts

Been gaming with shimada k8001, apparently its a butt soft stiff tip shaft (constant weight, 108g, steps are in the butt section with the rest of the shaft stepless) kinda like the pro white or pro orange, tends to lower the flight. Very happy with them but the problem is they are not making these anymore, bugga.

Does anyone know if there are any alternatives from other brands that have a similar profile?

If you consider the 120 soft, then you are probably leaning more into the DG profile. That's really the shaft profile that retains the softer(ish) butt section and about the stiffest mid-tip section for flex. There are stronger (C-taper, etc) but the handle is going to start to stiffen on those profiles as well.

TT, in my opinion, has gotten a lot better at retaining the feel of the original DG while offering different weight options in the recent years. If the original is too heavy for your liking, there's now the 120 and the 105, as well as the AMTs.

Sorry I meant to say the 120 feels too soft mid section as well as the butt, whereas the k8001 only has the soft butt but stiff mid (compared to 120 but its still mid kick) and tip. Played x100 and c taper before but they too stiff plus dont like the feel.

I would imagine the Shimada Tour Lite would be right up there, as it's the same as the K's Tour and Shimada Tour but in that 105-110g range. I would also recommend DG105 and Modus105. However, I found the Modus 105 to be very, very soft and it wants to draw really fast. KBS $-Taper 105 or C-Taper Lite might also be an option but KBS tends to be a bit more butt-stiff than anything.

Yea used c taper lite as well, the mid section is abit soft than the k8001, ending up with a much higher trajectory.

Havnt tried the shimada tours yet, but they are also stepped which could give a softer feel mid to lower portion.
