PXG Driving Irons

I just got my set of 0211s and new 0811XF driver yesterday. Can't wait to hit them.. Onto my issue, I have my M4 3W and then my 0211 4i. I want a driving iron for off the tee in instances where my 3 wood is just too long or too high of trajectory. Heroes Program through PXG has been great to me so far with their customer service and everything, so was hoping to stick with them for this. The GEN1 is only $95, and the GEN2 at $295 is more spendy but is it worth it?

Any other better options? Thinking about the Srixon or the TM as well, but as I said the PXG program has so far been great..

I had the Gen 1 0311X 2 iron for a bit and that thing was a rocket. I can't comment on the Gen 2 though. I'm currently gaming the New Level 4559HB 18* and I find it equally as good but easier to hit off the turf than the PXG was.

Price point, if you don't mind me aksing? Trying to stay near the GEN1 price, if possible.

They start at $160 with some steel shaft options and get more expensive with some upgraded shafts. I ended up pulling that shaft I purchased mine with and plugging in a different one.

Tough to beat that price point of $95 on that Gen 1 0311X, though. What shafts does that include?

You won't find anything cheaper than that GEN1 price point. I have the new level 4995 also and its definitely the most affordable driving iron on the market, and best too IMO. Steel shaft is $160. Upgraded shafts are much cheaper too vs any major OEM. The NL driving iron with upgraded graphite design shaft is only $263... vs Taylormade gapr lo at $249 plus an additional $250 just for the graphite design shaft

also a cool thing with New Level is you can demo the club for $25 ($40 total with shipping)... then you can actually purchase that club for 40% off. you can demo with the KBS hybrid steel 100g regular or stiff or upgraded KBS Tour Prototype shaft.

Full price the utility plus the KBS prototype shaft is $212 (shaft is $150 full price through KBS). I bought the demo with this shaft for $127 plus the original $40 investment. $167 is way cheaper (other than the GEN1) than any other driving iron on the market and that's with an upgraded shaft

Well, you certainly have my attention. Seems like a much better deal to go that demo route, even if it has to be done a time or two to find the right combination, as I have never been fit for a shaft in that type of club. All my previous hybrid type experiences have been the "too young to know any better so I buy off the shelf at Dick's and go" type. Thanks for the info @JoeFrigo and @cflo2382

lol I know!! were just following each other in every driving iron thread haha...but its so much better than everything else

@JoeFrigo @cflo2382 What loft are you guys using it in? 18*? I was hoping for something close to a 1 or 2 iron type loft, but if it seems to have the same trajectory/distance then it probably isn't much of a difference, but before investing into it, figured I would ask, lol.

@ZacA215 18* is the lowest they offer. I like more traditional lofts so I consider this a 2 iron but they call it a 3.. You could have it bent stronger.

I did think 18* was about a 2i, which I normally see at 17*, so makes sense that it would be closer to that. What kind of ball flight do you normally get out of it?

I have 18* also. I consider it a 2 as well. the ping and taylormade have their 2 as 17*... I bent mine to 17. Ive found mine to be low-mid launch. I haven't hit this yet and said "thats too high"

I have a Gen 1 DI-3 (18*) w/the Elevate 95. It shoots bullets. The only thing that took some getting used to was that at first I was lining up with a "normal" visual picture, and what I thought were good center strikes felt clunky. Toe strikes were awful. As soon as I moved 1/2" closer to the ball, though, holey moley!
