Flightscope Mevo Troubleshooting

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

i recently purchased the flightscope mevo, and I have been working with it for the last week. The unit is functioning properly, capturing all my shots, etc. That said, across the board, the carry numbers are 10-15 yards less than my true numbers. I am a scratch golfer, have worked on Trackman, etc., and play multiple times a week, so I know my numbers reasonably well. The mevo is consistent, but consistently short.

I am using the mevo off a mat in my backyard into the net. I have fooled around with using both indoor and outdoor settings, and the results are the same. I use the metal stickers, and I have them positioned forward toward the net. The unit is approximately 6 feet from the ball. I’m at a loss and do not know what else to do.d

Any thoughts/recommendations?

Thank you!

What is behind the net? A large metal object such as a garage door might cause problems with radar reflections.

What is the distance from your teeing area to the net? Longer flight times should help with data accuracy.

so i have a skytrak and have used it in my garage extensively (skytrak has it's own set of pretty issues - misses balls now and again, etc etc but works really well in general) for a lot of people when first hitting into a net their swing speeds are actually slower than out on the course or outside range - it's somewhat subconscious, ei fear of missing the net, if that's the issue it'll likely go away in a week or two - these issues pretty well documented in user groups though mostly for people hitting inside their houses

for what caveman44 says - it's a different issue than the one you are having, but the skytrak has similar issues where a lot of people complain that the carry is low esp w/ driver - these issues almost always have to do with the algorithims that these devices use

If you go to the range or on a slow night on your course, hit some 7 irons and measure the distance with either laser or yardage markers. Change the elevation up until the numbers are almost exactly what you are seeing on the course. The atmospheric conditions can play a role in the distances that you ball carries due to lift and spin. I had to bump mine up 1000' and then the numbers were almost identical to what I see on the course. Or you just dont hit the ball as far as you think you do. We have a Par 3 on my course that sits down in the creek bed and the air is always cool and heavy. Plays 155 on the tee markers and the laser but I hit 9 iron every time even though that is my 140 club. But anyway, Tinker with the elevation setting on the Mevo.

Mevo or Mevo+?

Either one needs at least 9 ft of ball flight indoors (or into a net) to get good spin numbers. You'll definitely want "Short Indoor" mode with the Mevo+. If you're closer to the net than 9', chances are your spin is getting read too high, which drastically reduces carry through the bag.

Would need to see more ball data to make a more educated guess, but the Mevo+ is very accurate if given enough ball flight. We put it up against the TrackMan 4, GCQuad, and EYEXO regularly (on the same shots) and carry is within a couple of yards either way. The original Mevo is not known to be so accurate into a net or indoors, but is "fairly" accurate outdoors where it can follow the ball for a longer distance.
