Titleist 909F2

G.Review

Recommended Posts

PERFORMANCE YOU CAN BELIEVE IN.

With a round profile and larger, extended face, the Titleist 909F2 is a high performance fairway that delivers higher launch with mid spin.

The 909F2 features a tour proven, modern profile that creates a deeper CG for greater stability. The larger, longer face of the 909F2 provides confidence and forgiveness, while half degree higher lofts compared to 909F3 promotes higher launch and trajectory.

Each 909F2 is constructed with a precision cast 17-4 Stainless Steel body and 275 Carpenter Steel face insert for a lively feel and increased ball speed. The multi relief sole minimizes turf resistance and ensures that the ground contact point remains forward to reduce bounce and skip at impact.

The factory installed SureFit Swingweight Screw helps to position the CG deep while also providing a precise head to shaft match.

Picked one up at Ed Watts with a gift card and finally took it to the range Saturday. I got the 13* with Voodoo Stiff shaft. Wow-I killed this club! It was more forgiving than I assumed. I was working on mechanics and did not expect much. I got more than I bargained for! I am considering getting the 5 now.

I have the 15.5 wood with Matrix Ozik for Titleist shaft (stock not the upgrade). Probably the best wood I've tried in the past 5 yrs. Boring, mid trajectory. Hot face and superb feel-- muted yet powerful. Easy to hit off the deck. You don't have to play like a pro to hit these. Really nice headcover.

This is the best feeling fairway wood I have hit, and I think I've hit most of the great ones over the years. Titleist really got their woods right this year. I have the 15.5 Ozik Xcon 6 X Flex upgrade from the made by Titleist version of the Xcon 6.

First, the club - as has been commented here, is extremely solid with a boring trajectory. Ultimately, I hit it on a low to high flight and I just love the predictability, distance and the accuracy. If you are a solid ball striker, you just can't miss with this club. If you're not a consistent ball striker, I think this would be a good tool to improve. I love hitting it off the fairway!

In terms of the shaft:

About two seasons ago, I switched to the Ozik Xcon 6 X Flex shaft in my driver. I noticed an immediate improvement with consistency as well as a slight bit more distance. After hitting the Xcon 6 for two seasons as well as hitting it in this 3 wood, I remain impressed with it. It's just smooth and consistent.

In this wood, I have hit both the Made for Titleist version of the Xcon 6 X as well as the upgrade Xcon 6 X, and I must say, I have not noticed a difference in the 3 wood. I noticed a slight bit in the 909 D2 driver (could be related to the torque difference which is slight), but not in the 3 wood. This is only my opinion, and others may say something completely different, but to me, I would just buy this 3 wood with the Made for Titleist version of the Xcon 6. If you look on eBay, you can find this combination for about $170 or less, which is a steal.

Hit a demo on the range today: 15.5 Diamana Blue for Titleist stiff. This club is really easy to hit and feels great. I generally hit a relatively low ball flight and this club hits it HIGH! I spoke to the pros at my club and they said pretty much everyone said the same thing about the high ball flight. If you want to hit it lower they recommended the F3.

I think I will get the F2, but which shaft? I don't want to spend the extra $ for the "real" Ozik which I have and love in my Taylor Made TP driver. How does the Ozik for Titleist compare to the Blueboard for Titleist?

I don't think you will be dissapointed with the VooDoo for Titleist shaft if you want a med-high ball flight. I'm a med capper and I can hit this 3 wood very well. Agree with all the other positive reviews above.

Question: Does the 909D2 with VooDoo has a similar feeling? I hit the 909D Comp and it was accurate but too short for me. I would love to find the same traits in a driver (long, accurate and easy to hit).

I just got 2 of these F2's in 3 and 5 woods. Demoed a 3 with Diamana and a few days later bought 2 online. Love the feel and distance. Best fairways I have ever had, and I have had lots.

Now I want a D3!

Tried out the f2 with the diamana 75 S was very disappointed with the shaft hated the feel and the trajectory was a bit too high for me. I like the shape of f2 and would like to get it but i think another shaft would fit me better. does the voodoo for titleist and the Ozik for titleist feel and play different from the diamana cause i would realy like to get the f2 but dont know what shaft to get. At my pro shop they only have the f2 with diamana so i cant try the other shafts.

Thanks

F2 felt dead for me. I was hitting the club right on the screws and nothing....just a dead feeling.

I really like how this club sets up, but hated the feel....wasn't a big fan of the "made for" blueboard shaft either.

I know it works for some players, but doesn't match the blueboard in my driver very well...

That being said it's VERY easy to get up in the air (granted I'm a high ball player to begin with) but I was very disappointed in the feel.

ok, ok guys here i go...i must be the ONLY guy on here that actually enjoys the Diamana for Titleist shaft. I had a Titleist 975J-VS driver for sooo many years before i realized i had the golf bug and wanted to update my clubs so i demoed the heck out of every offering in the 909D line and the 909F line w/ every loft and every factory shaft offering. I hit the Diamana shafted clubs the best by far..so i now have a 909D2 9.5, a 909F2 15.5 and a 909F2 18.5. ALL with the Diamana shaft and all regripped w/ Golf Pride New Decade Multi Compound grips. I'm killing these woods, off the tee w/ the D2 and off the tee and the fairway w/ the F2s. maybe i'm crazy but i'm loving the shaft.....

You're not crazy. It's not about being a bad or good shaft. The important key is finding the shaft that fits your swing. Looks like you have.

Love the 909d2 driver as well.

I just bought this FW wood a week ago, and i must say it is the best wood i have ever hit. I bought the F2 15.5 with a Voodoo stiff shaft. This thing is LONG. I average maybe 270 off the tee with it, and 260 off the turf in dry conditions. I love the sound and feel of it when you connect square. I am absolutley in love with this. I hit this so much more consistent than my 907D2 driver.

The blueboard is quite nice but i preferred the made for titleist aldila voodoo, i got this in stiff for the 13.5 909 f2 and love it, I can know hit greens 250 yards away. But it depends what you want the voodoo gives low ball flight and low to mid spin with an 80 gram weight the vs6 voodoo is lighter and the vs7 voodoo in the middle. However the blueboard is nice but doesn't compare to the voodoo in distance because of the new technology included within this shaft. I have just also purchased a 909h with the voodoo stiff also even though the blueboard was nice again it didn't compare to the distance from the voodoo yet this distance was controlled and straight also able to hit high or low and work it both ways which is a thing I don't struggle with. Hope this answers your question and helps you decide. TRY THE VOODOO!!!!!!

I would agree to try the voodoo. The blueboard is obviously a good shaft, and its a very popular brand here on golfwrx. I was a little sketchy w/ the voodoo shaft, but man its great. I have the 92g, stiff shaft and I love the shots I get with it. I have the 19 deg 909 hybrid, and honestly I can hit it up to 250yds w/ a beautiful mid trajectory. Goes almost as far as my 3 wood.

I just recently picked up one of these fairway woods as I hadn't had a 3 wood that I liked for some years now. This club is Money!!! I have the 15.5* model with an Oban Devotion 7 04 flex and I must say this is the best fairway wood that I've had in I can't tell you how long. Ball gets up easy and high off the deck and is a monster off the tee. I'm longer and considerably straighter than I've been with a 3-wood in years. I'm not sure how many people have and use this club, but it is a winner for sure!!!

I'm going to have to agree with DMR... Switching the shaft off for anything else, plays a huge difference. I put a vs proto in mine and can't seem to part with it... Big fan of the rbz but the 909f2 is staying. Just something about it... Compact head... Smooth feel... A lot more forgiving than you would think... Just a sweet club...
