I have x-20 irons and just bought a X-22 A-wedge from PGA Superstore in Duluth, GA.

I think 22 is little better than 20 in feel department but the feeling discrepancy isn't greater than pricing difference

It all depends on your preference

Guys, He's asking about the X-22 TOURS. These are the players version of the standard X-22 so don't confuse the two.

To answer the question, I played the original X-Tour forged for several seasons and found the X-Forged to be too demanding. I hit and bought a set of the X-22 tours today and can't wait to use them.

They are a cross between the X-Tour and X-Forged, thinner topline and sole than the X-Tour but with a great deal of forgiveness. Almost like a T-grind X Tour which I also played for a while. My numbers on the launch monitor were dead on with the stock PX Flighted so I pulled the trigger. They also feel great, very soft and to be honest they even felt a touch softer than my old X-Tours. I don't know how they did it but WOW Callaway has a huge winner on their hands with these babies. :D

The X22 Tours compared to the X20 Tours (which I played and liked very much).

The X22 Tours have a thinner topline and the sole is bevelled on the trailing edge giving it the appearance of being narrower. Overall the head seems smaller, heel to toe is close to the same but top to bottom seems smaller. The undercut channel in the back of the club is filled in, no more having to clean that out with a Q-tip!

Feel has improved, solid. Back graphics are more refined and classy in the looks department. Nice improved version.

I ordered them from the Callaway website. It still says on their site that they will be released 1/15 but they shipped them out the same day.

I sold my X20 Tours or I would be happy to get you a side by side. The stock grips are the normal tour velvet (ribbed) with just a callaway chevron logo (on the underside of the grip)

I played a round with them last week. My friend got them in 6.0 flighted from GG. We played irons-only from the red tees, and we switched iron sets for the round (he played with them the day after he bought them, and did'nt like them so he wanted me to give them a go) They are a good iron, nothing special, but a good iron that I played well with. They do have a thinner topline than the X-20 tour, but play is very similar. If you did'nt know any better you would think they were X-20 tours in the playability/forgiveness category. If you have the extra money and want a slightly thinner topline, then go for it. I would recommend saving money and going with the X-20 tours though. BTW, he wished he would have listened to me now about getting some used i5's.

I pre ordered a set a month or so ago and was told today that my sticks are on back order.

Has anyone else run into this same issue? It is too cold here to play in the near future in North Carolina but I should be able to play late weekend or next week (if I can escape from work early).

I saw the 6 iron demo at my local Pro Golf and I think that the club looked great. I am looking forward to putting them in my bag.

I also preordered mine about a month ago. They are going to be here tomorrow. I would have your shop call and inquire. Did you have alot of customization or stock? Mine are .25 inches long and 1 up, orange decade comp with DG S300's. The backorder sounds strange.

I think they look and feel great as well. I am switching from Mizuno MP-60's.

I ordered the 6.0 shafts, standard length, mid size Golf Pride tour velvet grip. I called yesterday and talked to my guy and he went online to check the status of my sticks. I may swing by the shop today and do a face-to-face. I don't think that will help but we will see. I am not too concerned at this point.

Hmm... Are you better off doing custom orders through a golf shop, or directly from Callaway's website? And is the total price exactly the same? Just curious. Headed down to the shop today (didn't make it yesterday) hope to squeeze in a fitting, drool over the X-22 tours, then run home to the wifey and explain to her why i NEED to buy new irons when it's -11 degrees outside. lol wish me luck!
