My perspective as a non-Cameron owner is this:

I see that there are MANY MANY fans of his putters, that collect the hell out of them, buying and selling, etc. There are also the average "I just bought a Scotty Cameron <fill in the blank> the other day" person, and they seem to be more open to the "newer" models that have been released in the recent past(the Detour, Fantom, etc). This second group(type 2 as a label only) of people have various reasons for having a SC putter that probably are not paralleled with the purpose of collecting putters, ie more of a prestige "I own a Scotty Cameron putter look at me" type scenerio no matter the model.

I also see that the ONLY non-blade and/or non-anser-style putter that has seemed to have gained wide acceptance within the Cameron "community" and that has been well recieved within the general retail market scope is the Red X putter. Even the hardcore Cameron collectors(IMHO) don't care for even this model. The non Cameron collector , the type 2(see above) person realizes that there is no resale market for the less "popular" types of models. There is also a 3rd group of people: the one's that just found a great putter, and it happens to be a Scotty Cameron <fill in the blank> and I kick arse with it on the greens.

I'm curious to see how this one is received in general by the average player, the hardcore SC collector, the market ho's(type 2) and the 3rd group of perhaps first time Cameron buyers......and the Tour players as well. I will make the prediction that the hardcore Cameron collector will really not care about this model.(correct me if I am wrong here, I am stating my observations based on forums, friends, ebay sales, and other things I've personally noticed). Please correct me if I am off base or completely just wrong in my comments here. :)

Thanks.

NOTE: I consider myself in the "3rd Group" of folks....and I see big differences between this model and the Craz-E Ping mallet. I am a Ping-a-holic, and just don't see it...I honestly see this model as being more alike with Rife models.

There have been putters other than the Red X that are quite popular. A few that come to mind are the Del Mar, Circa#6, Fastback, and yes even the Futura when it first came out.

I remember Mickelson gaming the Futura prototype and it was said to be the next great putter design. It didn't last though. But the fact is people will always try something new. And if it happens to work for you then whose to tell you it isn't a success.

I see that....but....besides the fastback(and I don't consider that a mallet putter, but an extended anser/newport-style) where have they all gone in popularity and general acceptance besides the bay? I'm not talking about personal success....that can happen with a 10 dollar Dunlop from Kmart...I was aiming my thoughts at those that know Cameron putters at the very least, or those that are very intimate with Cameron putters as a value collector/user.

I see your point, and I am a novice when it comes to Cameron putters, but I've done a bit of plain old observation over the past year regarding this phenomenon. Honestly it does seem that the only great success Cameron has made with a putter that is not a blade/anser style is indeed the Red X.

Thanks for the added input though, I just don't see the passion for the Futura, and definately not for the Newport styles from other people.

I digress though, because I hijacked this thread, and for that I apologize...and as far the the OP is concerned, I think the putter is SHARP. Just curious about it's possible future from those that know better than myself.

You sure???

Nah just kidding and the only reason I asked was due to a previous thread here at GolfWRX dealing with the very subject of the Circle T and it's usage as of late.

Peace.

I'm not sure what all of that discussion was about. The Kombi pictured in my earlier post is from the Bob Hope. It is a circle T because it was a tour putter.

Take Cameron off the side of this thing and no one would buy it

:russian_roulette:

Who knows... no one might buy it regardless. It's not even out yet.

Who would've thought the TM Spider would've sold so well.

TM Spider sold well? I never see anyone playing one of these.

Is there any word on the NAME? KOMBI

Kombi

_model-kombi.jpg Some people mistakenly refer to all buses as "kombis," when actually it's just one of several models. By definition, a "kombi" is a "kombination" of commercial and passenger vehicle, which could be change functionality with the quick removal of the rear seats. It has 3 windows in the sides of the cargo area, and one in the rear hatch. The rear window on a kombi is smaller than that of a deluxe. There were only hardboard panels for interior in the front cab section, covering the doors, roof, and behind the nose. There were no headliner or carpet, and rear seats were optional. Kombis were frequently used as the basis for campers.

OR

Kombi was a successful pop rock music band from Poland, founded in 1976 in Gdańsk by Sławomir Łosowski

where does the name come from ?
