Has anyone made 695.cb's 1* weaker and like it?

Wondering if anyone has added a degree or so of loft to their 695.cb and can anyone comment on it's playability? Good or bad?

I have a set coming from Titleist that will be lofted like the 695 MB's In my discussions I was told that I need to careful with the shafts I use after doing that so instead of going with the NS Pro 100's which have a higher ball flight I am having Rifle Flighted shafts fitted instead. I will give a report once I get them and have tested them.

That's exactly how I ordered mine. The reason I ordered them 1Β° weak and my MB's 1Β° strong is so I can mix and match. The 695 CB's are the best feeling and performing cavity backs I have ever hit. If a player likes blades but wants a little more forgiveness these are perfect.

great to hear the 695cbs are good. i just bought a set of tour issued 695cbs and am so anxious to get them in play! do you wreckin if the lofts are stronger you should use a weaker shaft or vice versa?

Β

I would not change the shafts just because of the lofts. I see you are having Joey blueprint them. Follow his advise and they will be PERFECT!

Slightly OT,

but Kev, what happened to the 660's?

Β

I see they're still in your WITB, but are the 695's that good?

I guess you don't know me very well. When it comes to my clubs I'm goofy. The 660's might be in my bag tomorrow, you never know. :D My thought right now is I really love the 695 CB's and the 695 MB short irons. I have them set up loft wise to be interchangable. I could use any of these 3 sets or even my 735's and be very happy. At some point you might see a set of these in the BST, but for now I couldn't part with any of them. That's my story and I'm sticking to it! :stop: :WTF:

kevin how are you finding the baffler??

Β

that thing looks awesome. i havent seen one in real life yet but may have to go looking!!!! it would also be a mucho cheaper option than a 585h tour lol!

Do ya think? I'm trying to get JHR to adopt me, unfortunately he doesn't think a 48 year old fat guy would be a good fit in his family. :stop:

sorry about that br.....if you were to add 1 degree loft to the 695cbs they would still play 1 degree stronger than a standard set of titleists....ie 47* pw.

By increasing the loft slightly it will give you a bit higher flight, maybe more controllable distances and will leave you with much less of a gap between your pw and gap wedge.

We are all know that 1* is not gonna effect to much on the bounce angle.

Β

It's more of trajectory issue IMO.

Β

I play my 695 CB at 35* on the 7 iron and 48* on the PW ( DGS300 hard step ).

Β

I don't see to much different in ball flight comparing it w/ 735CM ( DGS300 ) & J33CB ( soft step TCI X1 ). Yes a little on my TN87 because i have a X100 softstep once.

Β

IMO, we should not worry about the loft number on the club, we should worry more on how high and how far we hit them and check the gap between clubs.

Β

Β

What i've noticed the big different for me as a deep digger :stop: As the ground in The bay area is not quite dry yet, i don't dig as much w/ this iron.

Β

Β

Perfect for my type of player. :D

Just a question to all on mixing 695CB's and MB's.

Β

704KC, you mention that you have 695CB's 1* weak and MB's 1* strong, if I read correctly.

Β

Question is, is it really necessary to line up the loft transitions perfectly, given that the weighting in the MB would probably cause a lower trajectory, all other things being equal (i.e., lofts, shafts).

Β

So, if went 1* weak on CB's (3-6) and standard on MB's (7-W), would there still be a smooth transition from 6 (31*) to 7 (36*)?

Β

Seems to me that delofting CB's will take to standard bounce, but stronger loft on MB's will reduce bounce.

Β

Any thoughts?

Hi Shibumi,

Β

Lining up the lofts has worked very well for me, I hve no issues at all. That being said, there is so little difference in the looks of the two clubs at address that I would have no problem at all playing the full set of CB's. They feel fantastic, not much difference in feel between the CB's and MB's, and I have always liked a little more bounce in my irons as the CB's have. Both sets are great. :)

Just to fore warn you Shibumi, you'll have to buy two sets of clubs to do this. Just thought you should know if you didn't already.

Got my 695 cb,s about 2 weeks ago and usied them in a tournament after playing 1 practice round with them. They are really SWEET. Shot 73-66-69. These irons are easy to hit, appealing to the eye and appear to be anti-left clubs. I put Nippon NS PRO 100 shafts in them and they play a little soft to flex (about 3 cycles) but they are very smooth and they have a mid to mid high ball flight.

Β

Lofts are set 1Β° weak, I did however have to add some weight to them to get them to D2.
