Putting Drills

Post Your Putting Drills Here Please!
O.K. We Need Plenty Of Putting Drills Here!

I Know This Shouldn't Be In Juniors But It Is A Special Thread For Juniors' Putting Drills

Should Be Interesting To See How They Compare To Seniors Drills

O.K. I'm Gonna Start

1) This One Helps You With Your Consistency A Lot:

Miss One Single Putt You Start Again

1) Sink 3 Five Footers
2) Sink 4 Four Footers
3) Sink 3 Five Footers
4) Sink 2 Six Footers
5) Sink 1 Ten Footer

2) Heres One I Use Before Tournaments/Competitions To Get The Speed Of The Greens
If There Is A Practice Green There Of Course

1) Get As Straight A Putt As You Can
2) Putt Your First Ball To The Fringe, The Second Ball You Putt Has To Go Closer To The Fringe Than The First Ball, And The Third Ball You Putt Has To Go Closer Than The Second Ball
3) Do This From Upwards Of 30 Foot, Then From 20 Foot, Then 10 Foot, Then Six Foot, Then 3 Foot
4) Notice How Far You Have To Take The Putter Back And Through For Each Putt And Remember It For When You Go Out To Play

3) This One Isn't A Drill But I Just Have To Share It Because It Really Works!!!!!!

When You Are Putting Downhill Instead Of Reducing The Length Of Your Stroke (Which Can Cause A Sudden Case Of ThE YiPs!) Just Adress The Ball With The Toe Of Your Putter And You Should Hit The Ball With The Toe Of The Putter Which Should Cause A Softer Impact Hence The Ball Not Going Way Past The Hole If You Miss The Putt

Here's some:

Place 6 balls or so in a circle around the hole, all around 4 feet from the cup. Work your way around, if you miss a shot start over.

Place 5 balls in a straight line from the cup, starting at 2 feet from the hole, then a foot and a half or so between each ball. Starting at the closest ball, putt each one into the hole. If you miss one, start over till you can sink all 5.

To work on your stoke power, place a wedge face down with the shaft perpendicular to your putting line and 1 inch from the hole. Putt from any distance. The goal is to hit the shaft, bounce up and drop into the cup. Hit too soft and you won't jump the shaft, too hard and you'll jump over the hole.

I work with both of these, because we all know how important those comeback putts are.

Umm lets see. Well I love using the putting arc. And then there is a drill we do with our team where we get six guys and pick like a 10 footer and the six guy goes first then so on, and if one misses then you have to start over. This is good because it helps during pressure situation. There is also the triangle where you get three holes and three people and three balls and then you putt in a triangle and you move holes clockwise when someone makes it, until someone has made five (or three or ten). And then finally, you have four balls and you putt them any distance you like trying to make a square (you can use three balls and do a triangle as well).

something that helps me a lot is this drill;

get 4 tees and pick out, like a compass, where you wanna putt from to get the best part of the green and best breaks. you set the tees up one full shaft length of your putter (mine is 20 in, that's w/out grip and head) and place the four tees, again, sorta like a grid so you make a t or x.

then, hit all putts from each tee, and if you miss one you hit four putts from that spot again and if you miss ,what you have already made comes outta the cup. increase distance 1/2 putter shaft til you get to 3 shafts which for me is 5 ft and then you can go to 3.5 or 4 shafts. good drill, i might sound a lil fuzzy but you should get the idea. i got work to do so i can't go any more in depth!

I often putt to a tee peg. It's a drill reccomended by physcologist Dr Karl Morris and I think it's really effective in improving your putting.
