The problem with balls that have been in the water is that they lose yardage. In the first week of being in the water a sufficient amount gets in that you can lose as much as 10 yards on that ball, and after a week theyre pretty much not worth playing any more. Good deal but I would caution you in using these for anything other than maybe chipping and putting, because these ballsa re not going to play true.

i read an article in golf digest and I think the number is more like after 6 months in the water, the ball loses 3 yards. Still 100 balls for 40 is great.

I was off by 4 yards on the 10 yards after a week, after six months you may as well use em as wiffle balls, your gonna lose a lot.

Testing was done in 1996. There has been a great increase in ball technology since then. Mabye the results are different now.

Most of the changes have been done in the core technology as well as durability. The results are due to the porousness of the golf ball, not as much the actual materials. My guess would be that they haven't changed much since then as far as distance loss.

By the way im using these balls for practice and if they are gonna be that short at least that means if i hit it say 160 on the range with 6 iron ill be hitting it 170 6 iron on the course. But I doubt most of them will have been in the water that long.

Believe me these will be the last things i would use for chipping + putting. :)
