Callaway Tour Authentic Utility Irons

These Things are Amazing!
I have struggled over the last several years to plug the gap in my bag between my 3 wood and irons. I have bagged various combinations of fairway woods, hybrids, and irons, but have never been completely satisfied with the results.

Well that's all changed since my recent purchase of two Callaway Tour Authentic Utility Irons in 18* and 21*. I was able to purchase the clubs with the same Project X 6.0 shafts that I have in my Cally X-Tour irons. They fill the gap perfectly between my 3 wood and 4 iron.

These things are amazing. As forgiving as a hybrid, but with the feel of an iron. I've always been a better iron player than fairway wood player anyway, and I've never adjusted to the look of hybrids (even though I have tried several). I'm not knocking hybrids as I know they work great for some people - just not for me.

I would highly recommend this type of club to anyone struggling with hybrids.

These won't be leaving my bag anytime soon. Except of course, to hit a shot!

I have a difficult time hitting fairway woods and hybrids. These would be worth a try for me. I've been to callaway's website, went through their current clubs, their classic clubs, and also the pre-owned site and I can't find these anywhere. Are they considered X-Tours? Can you point me in the right direction?
Thanks!

I'd love to pick up a couple of these but they're so hard to find. Great job grabbing some with steel shafts also! PM me if you're ever looking to unload one.

I found mine on the Bay, but they are very hard to find. I watched for nearly a year to get the opportunity to buy them. I've been told that Callaway only made them for touring pros or as a special order item through their Tour Authentic line. I'm not sure if this is true or not, but I know they did not make very many of them.

You might look at the Mizuno Fli-Hi or the Bridgestone AIr Muscle. They are both similar clubs and much more easily found. If you are stuck on buying the Callaways, prepare to be patient.

Thanks for the offer, but I've been looking for about a year before I found them. I think these are mine forever!

You can occasionally find some on the Callaway pre-owned site. There aren't any right now, but they had some a month or so ago.

  • 2 weeks later...

as stated before, these can be very very pricey due to their limited production number. i've had my eye out for a few and just missed pulling the trigger on them a few times. in its place i have a mizuno fli-hi which is fantastic in its own right, and can be had for a song on the bay. might be a solid alternative to those looking for an iron/hybrid style club.
