KBS Tour vs. Project X Flighted

For me, when I compared the PX to the KBS there was no contest. KBS was smoother with better feel hands down.

Went from Project X Flighted 5.5 in my AP2s to KBS. Gained a club in distance and the feel is tons better with the KBS.

Wouldn't those numbers be better suited to a PX 5.0 maybe?

Anyway, I did the Mizuno shaft optimizer thing and tried both of these shafts as a result of that. The KBSs felt really good/smooth and even on mis-hits did not feel as harsh, however, I found the PX to be a lot more consistent. FWIW, I don't remember all my shaft optimizer numbers, but I do remember my swing speed being 88 to 89 and tempo was a 5, on all my swings with the shaft optimizer. It recommended KBS Stiff or PX 5.5; I usually hit 6 irons 180-185ish.

KBS does have better feel hands down, BUT, if you already hit the ball high, I would strongly, STRONGLY suggest hitting these at a range before you jump on them and put them in. KBS seem to me to have a pretty high ball flight. I already played a pretty high ball, and just put some KBS shafts in, and they're going even higher now. Not a bad thing unless it's windy out, and it's almost impossible to keep them down.

I believe the KBS have a better feel because they don't have a reinforced tip section like DG do, but that's also why they have a higher ball flight. If anyone knows a shaft that has the feel of KBS but the flight of DG, please, for the love of everything holy let me know what they are.

I have 2 sets of XForged, one with KBS Tour (I ordered these) and a backup set (EB impulse buy, but really cheap) with the Proj X Flighted. My KBS aer S soft stepped once, PX are 5.5. I swing 6 iron about 88 avg, and either is fine, but the KBS are longer and feel is no comparison. They both hit ball higher but spin less than DG S300, so it's more drop and stop, then suck back on approaches. I play the KBS, ProjX are only in case of emergency at this point.

It does take a few rounds to get used to either shaft. I played DG forever, had one set of Rifles, liked them too. The Proj X are more butt stiff, so slight softer flex adds some feel.
