I am in the Warren area, and play quite a bit. My small group of playing friends and I are always looking for players. None of us are members of country clubs, travel around a lot, and we play quite a bit (2-5 times a week). PM me if you are ever interested in playing.

Bryan, want to hook up and play at Knoll some day next week? Don't ask why, but I have been kinda wanting to play there. I've always thought it was a decently maintained little track. Plus, for some reason, I've always shot decent there, and I've been struggling and need a confidence boost.

Yeah, I am always down to play there. That is definately a confidence booster course since you can only slice or hook it out of play on a few holes. Any day but Tuesday will work for me. Fair warning though, the road is closed off 422 so you gotta go through Campbell or around the back country by Bedford Trails if you are coming from 80.

Thursday they have a tee time on GolfNow at 12:43 for $12 at Knoll Run, that would be a great time for me.

Sounds good. I will probably wait till Tuesday to book it, I've noticed the prices drop a couple days before, and then day of. I think my one buddy will go with us also, if you happen to know of anyone else let me know.

I can probably find a 4th guy. I don't know if it will drop below $12. Thats cheap for there. I always see that time for that price.

I know this is an old post, and the OP hasn't been on WRX in 5 months, but I recently moved back to Columbiana County (Wellsville), and will likely be looking for potential playing partners, as I won't want to golf by myself all the time :)

I'm still here. The Ohio threads kinda died so I haven't been on much. If it will ever warm up and quit snowing maybe golf season will commence.

Local event if anyone is interested in playing at a nice course they're trying to get this off the ground to take off like the best of the valley tournament Saturday score will be used to flight you going into Sunday very nice 36 hole course in canton also trying to find out if this event doesn't interest you what would be the reasoning that you would stay away from it? Trying to get feedback for the organizers

I haven't played in the Greatest Golfer here but I have volunteered a few times. It seems to be pretty well run and organized. If it is anything like the one in Youngstown it should be a good time. For low shooters, they set the course up pretty tough and for the higher guys its more of an average set-up. The scrambles all have team scorers so there is no pencil whipping so it should appeal to the people that think every scramble is a joke.

I played our league field day Saturday at Oak Tree....I don't play too much on the weekends unless its later in the day. I might try to hit Firestone Farms on Friday if the weather is decent.

I played Oak Tree a few weeks ago. Enjoyed the track.

In my humble opinion, Oak Tree is probably one of the hardest courses around here. There are no drivable par 4s and the par 5s are only reachable in two for the guys who can hit it far, to a spot and then work the ball both ways. When the greens are rolled they are pretty quick which just adds to the challenge.

Yea unfortunately they ended up canceling this one due to lack of sign ups.. They're looking to try and grow it into something similar to the greatest in the valley event.. I had looked into getting into that one but I don't reside in one of the counties that's allowed.. My understanding us the person trying to start the greatest golfer in stark event is associated with the greatest in the valley event..

I was just pretty amazed that with how big golf is in this area that this tournament failed to draw people in when the tiger town open that's also in this area has a pretty good tournament every year so I'm just wondering what stopped people from signing up for the greatest in stark.. I'd love to play in a couple non scramble tourneys but I don't have an official handicap due to not being a member anywhere so an event using one day to flight you is ideal for me personally

That's probably why people didn't sign up. Nothing like sandbagging on Saturday to get an easier flight on Sunday. You should be able to get a handicap without being a member somewhere. Most of the course pros will enter your score and get you an official handicap. I know a few places that do it for $25 around here. There is an amateur tour thing that plays in the tri state area that seems pretty decent. I can't think of the name of it now but its a traveling group that gets onto some pretty nice courses that aren't really open to the public. I got a HCP to play in some events but then changed jobs so it became almost impossible.

The Mahoning Valley one gets a lot of exposure and I think that is what drove the success. Its on the TV news and newspapers and on a lot of the scorecards. It just takes time to build momentum.
