Classic Wilson Putters 8802 / Tour Special / 8813

Can anyone tell me the differences and history of the Wilson Tour Special putter as my father has used the model with great success since 1970 ish. He is a club pro and remembers getting model from a Wilson rep about 1970. I seem to be able to find information about the 8802 / 8813 models but not the Tour Special. He said that when he picked it up it just felt and looked right, he still regularly gets round taking somewhere in the region of 24-29 putts per round.

Any pics?

i have an old one from the 60,s. looks and putts like a 8802 with out the value. the shafts arnt the same but i think the head is same as 8802. the tour special 2 has no offset. . check at puttertalk .there is a section for these under wilson i believe.

Thanks for the information on the website will check it out.

Main question is how is it treating you?

I've been using a Wilson Julius Boros. Really developing a nice pop stroke with this thing.

But I always go back to the 8802.

I have not used it myself but Dad has used the same one since 1970 so I guess it's been treating him well.

Quite a few on eBay. Looks like most of them have a sight line which I don't care for on an 8802 style. Many are also stamped "forged"

The tour special (I, II, III, Ladies and a lefty) was first introduced by Wilson in 1982.

This line is primarily a reissue of the Arnold Palmer/8802 putters from 1962-64
