Ping MB 58 wedge insert fell out

Hey guys looking for a little help here... as title states my Ping mb wedge insert fell out. In pieces and crumbled like a cookie. I'm pretty handy and considered filling this gap with either fiberglass or a torch and solder some metal in it. My main concern is the weight of the head if I use either. The old material in the gap seems like some sort of metal-fiberglass composite. I believe the fiberglass alone would be too light but the metal too heavy. What side should I err on heavier or lighter? What effect will this have on how it plays? Does it effect the bounce at all? I love this wedge and really want to fix it! Thanks for your time and advice.

See if ping will fix so that way you can get the feel/swingweight that you're used to

I would give Ping a ring. You might be surprised, that they will either fix it or replace it for you. They have great customer service.

Ping will likely fix it for free, well not exactly free since you will have to send the club to them and then wait. You can fix it yourself by filling the cavity with epoxy (preferably the black colored type). I did just that on an iWedge after the weight fell out. Mixed some lead powder into the epoxy which colored it black first, then measured out just the right amount to swingweight the club where I wanted. You could also embed a weight into the cavity and then epoxy over the top. Easy fix.

Thanks for all the advice guys. I filled it about halfway with 50% silver solder the other half with fiberglass and smoothed it out. Weight is only a few grams heavier but I think it will be fine. And after I paint it metallic copper it will look better than that black crap that was in it :-) I know ping would have probably made good but I've somehow convinced myself it is better now than ever. Lol . Then the reshaft is my next task. Heard a lil abt this 8 iron shaft trick... I do have a kzg demo 7 iron with a "toski golf" graphite stiff shaft I could pull. Pardon my ignorance if this is just way wrong, still new to this said but learning as I go. I got another cheap Adams wedge I could swap from if the graphite is not a good idea. Thanks again guys. As always you've been very helpful. I've probably learned more abt golf from this site than anywhere else.

If you extend the shaft you will have to change the lie. If Ping don't do it, it will most likely go back to the original lie.

Are you referring to reshafting the MB wedge you just fixed the weight on? High likelihood that the Toski graphite shaft is a parallel tip, whereas you need a taper tip for the MB wedge. Even if the shaft has the correct tip, your swing weight will be quite a bit lower when you replace the stock shaft with graphite. So you may have to redo your work on the head weight.
