Wasatch Mountain - Midway, Utah - Photo of George's legs included
George and I got together this week to play Wasatch Mountain. Perfect day to play and the colors in the mountains were beautiful. George held the long drive marker for awhile and I won the closest to the pin. Took a few pictures for everyone to see.

Very nice, Dave. Congrats on the closest to the pin. Why it was set on a 220 yarder is beyond me, but then again, not everyone's hitting a PW into it, so not too surprising. I'm glad you took all them pics, I don't remember much of the round aside from a temporary stint for the long drive (helps when you're the second group to play the hole :drinks:) and some 7-point elk getting ready to charge me on the back nine. I could have done without the action shot that reminds me of the side of beef I washed down with a half-gallon of dairy cream on the drive up (I'm not fat, I'm big boned ). Really was a beautiful day, and the golf wasn't bad at all. Thanks a ton for the invite. :)

Ummm, it's not modesty you read. I'm all about the self-depricating humor to hide my insecurities (don't tell anyone ). Really though, that was a great course and the vistas (that's "view," right?) were amazing. I know the courses around the oceans get all the press, but I'll take the mountains 9 times out of 10. Less wind too. :drinks:

Thats course looks brilliant  scenery is amazing too :drinks: Im going to sound a bit English here but how did you get to play a golf course in jeans? If you in the uk they wouldnt let you in the car park :)

Odd, I didn't even notice the jeans until now. I guess I'm just not used to checking out another man's a**. I can't speak for Dave, but I'm just blessed with great legs (I know you were checking them out ;)) and extra insulation that I don't bust out the pants until October/November. But, fall mornings here are brisk enough to warrant jeans, especially when hunting through the forest for beruo's lost balls. Fortunately not too many courses around here have a ban on them. Not my cup of tea (trying to keep up with the "English here" :)), but I'm not about to pass judgement on a guy who was driving them by me all day save, for the one hole that mattered. And he plays a "component" driver to boot! :D

Any public course allows jeans as far as I know. So in the UK you cannot wear jeans? Guess I'll have to bring the slacks when I play Ireland next year.

Just got back from Ireland a week ago today...beter bring some $$$$$ when you make the trip....the dollar is the weakest its ever been against the EURO. I would hate to see what would hapen to Ireland if the Americans quit paying those high prices to golf. I was lucky enough to have a friend that has a home in south Ireland and is a member at Ballybunion..so room and board was free..Ballybunion was $46 to play each the Old and New course..we grilled steaks a few nights and the trip was still over $4K. We were there for 11 days...so I guess that was too bad.

Utah golf looks awesome...the color of the trees look beautiful. George the back swing looks solid

Jimmy

Thank you. The swing is a work in progress. Fortunately for me, Dave is a good guy and posted all the picture where I didn't fall all over myself (though I don't remember ever being that close to the cart path. :)). We do have some really great courses up here and most are more than reasonable. This course (Wasatch Mountain) was under $50 with mandatory cart (you can walk the Lake course). Last year when Dave invited me to play Thanksgiving Point (HERE'S the thread from that one, scroll down for the more accurate picture ) it only cost $25 each, though the regular rates are only about $50-75. Then when Mac and Adam (MrParr!Noid and amajeski) and I met up at Stonebridge, I think that was also in the $40's (another linky-link to relive horrible memories).

I'm thinking we might have to get a big Utah Golfwrx outing together come spring...give myself time to get my hernia surgery completed (no, i don't have a hernia but i read it's a great way to lose some pounds. ;)). Plenty of laughs to be had and tears to be shed. Could be fun. :drinks:
