Suggestion for twilight round between Greensboro and Pinehurst

Going to MB in April from W. PA. We usually stop and play Bryan Park in Greensboro, but was thinking about switching it up. From home to BP is about 7.5 hrs, so we get on the road by 5:30am and get out and play right at 2:00 at a nice twilight rate (about $32).

What courses would you recommend between Greensboro (7.5 hrs) and Pinehurst (8.5 hrs) that have a rate under $50?

Chapel Ridge in Pittsboro, NC or Tot Hill in Asheboro, depending on your route.

Good rates can be had through Golf Now for Tot Hill Farms. It is in the middle of nowhere and the course itself is memorable. It is a Stranz design and a course that tends to be either loved or hated by golfers. I've never met anybody who has played there that didn't feel strongly one way or the other about it. I'm one of the fans, and either way it's a course you should play once. I also enjoy Tanglewood Championship in Winston-Salem, though that is before Greensboro. This is a golf rich area and you are sure to find a good option for under 50 dollars somewhere. Have fun in Pinehurst!

I played Tot Hill Farm last summer and liked it alot, but just assumed I couldn't get a reasonable rate. Anyone ever play Grandover Resort courses in Greensboro?

Played grandover a couple months ago. They have two courses. Both can be found at a discount. In very good shape with speedy greens. Would recommend

Grandover is a good choice. Courses are good, it's close to the highway, so you won't waste a lot of time driving to it.

Cool. It looks like it's between Grandover and Tanglewood. Maybe hotel in Asheboro and next day PM round at Sandpiper Bay in MB.

I'm living in Greensboro now after a few years in Milwaukee.

I have mixed feelings about Grandover. The West course isn't worth playing, but the East has some decent holes.

We were treated very badly there by the staff and I probably won't be going back in the near future.

I think Tanglewood is a great round and can be challenging from the correct set of tees.

I'd skip Tot Hill. It can definitely be a great layout if you're a fan of Stranz (True Blue), but condition can sometimes be iffy. We got a Golf Now tee time not too long ago for about $30 including the cart.

My vote is Tanglewood and Bryan. Skip Grandover. I don't think they're worth the money. Pace of play can be questionable there too.

Is the Tanglewood Reynolds course worth playing?

Reynolds isn't worth playing, only the Championship course.

The price difference on GolfNow wasn't too large either last time I looked.

We looked this past weekend for a Sunday round and Reynolds was $22 and Championship was $24.

April probably won't be released for a while.

Sourwood Forest in Snow Camp isnt bad, cheap too, like 22 for 18 with a cart . Pretty course and plays a bit long, have played it a few times and never had to wait on a group,even on weekends.

Its an Arnold Palmer design, so there are one or two really goofy holes. Not overly challenging.

Doesn't hold rain super well, so make sure to play it when its dry.

Bit of a drive from Greensboro though.

We won't really have to drive through Greensboro, though, if we play there or at Tanglewood, right? We'll probably spend the night in Asheboro, then straight to MB.

Look up Village Tavern and see if it's menu is to your liking. The Hanes Mall Blvd. location is off of I-40 on your way to Asheboro.
