Examples of Aftermarket Oil Can Finishes

I'm thinking of sending one of my Bettinardi's out to get oil canned (yes--it's carbon steel). I am interested in seeing any photos of putters that have been oil canned by putterplating, BOS, Slighter, or any other professional putter refinisher. I know this can be a DIY project but my putters are nickel plated so they're going to need to be stripped anyway.

 

I'm most interested in photos of the what the putter looked like after some use. If you don't have the ability to post photos (or the time) I'd be interested in hearing about your experience in the alternative.

 

Ideally, I'd like a matte brown appearance that ages with character over time (i.e., rubbing down to the steel on the edges is OK).

Here are a few of mine (and putters I have owned). All were done by BOS in Patina Oil. If I could have a mulligan, I would have done the Circa in 3X Patina Oil.

Robot Doctor - Did did you game any of those? Also, as I understand it, a 3x oil can is the matte finish?

The Circa was going to be my gamer this year but I have a Cameron American Classic VII (Napa) that is my gamer. The Circa is my backup.

Here's an Oil Can Napa, the finish was done by BOS. This is my current gamer and the finish is holding up really good.

Can that be applied to stainless?

Can an oil can finish be applied to a putter with a "pro platinum" finish?

 

If the answer is no, the finish must be removed first ----- then who is a good person to send one to who can remove the Pro Plat finish?

The pro platinum would be stripped down to the bare carbon and then the finish is applied. Its a very dangerous and toxic finish to apply and Black Oxide Services is who most refinishers send their pieces too. People like Kevin Colbert(putterplating.com) or Tom Slighter.
