What is the deal. I almost never hit my regular iron shots fat, but almost always hit short shots fat. Am I coming down too steep? Any ideas would help greatly.

Take a look at Dave Pelz' Short Game Bible. Your ball position is probably too far forward (without seeing you swing - best guess). Ball should be centered between your heels...not toes.

Seriously, take a look at the Pelz bible...you won't regret it!

pitching wedge is either 47 or 48 degrees. More than likely, I am gonna bend the pw to 50, pull that gap wedge, and get a hyrbrid or 4/5 wood. All my irons are 2 degrees upright and 1/2 inch over standard. I am 6'2". The px 7.0 feel great. My driver swing speed is about 118-120, and I hit the ball high. The love them; longer than dynamic gold and it seems I can control the spin and distance better.

Without knowing more I think decelerating is highly likely.

Similar to long chips I see lots of players take the club too far back and then when it comes through in the downswing they think "oh no! the club's going too fast I'm gonna hit this thing over the green" and decelerate...leading to eraly release and the dreaded chunk.

Very common actually.

The posters above me make a good case but I'm gonna suggest that you may be accelerating too hard.

When you have a full swing it's easy to get your downswing started because you feel the point when the backswing ends. With a short shot, I see a lot of my buddies bring the club back slow but then try and stab at the ball hard. Almost always results in a fat shot.

what you're saying is example of decelarating at the down swing. Sure you feel your upper body or your arms are down-swinging hard but in reality your club is decelarting because you're not relasing the club hence not creating any power which leads to early release of the club.

for me ball position should not have effect on your swing. You need to concentrate on making contact with the ball. I can hit any pitch shot or 1/2 swing shot in any ball position. Its all about trusting your swing. For me, anytime I doubt my backswing I either hit it fat or thin.... same as putting stroke, if I second guess my distance I usually push or pull my putts.... its all about trust...

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
