Mizuno MP-60 vs Titleist 735CM

Mizuno is the pick!
Some weeks ago I bought a set of 735CM's and described what a great iron they were.

Club "ho" that I am, I had a large credit sitting unused with a large national retailer and, not having an interest in any other equipment, decided to take a chance and buy the MP-60's yesterday.

Played with them this morning, and here's the deal:

MP-60's look great.
MP-60's have the sweet Mizuno feel (I was a Miz devotee for a number of years - MP29's, MP14's and MP33's).
MP-60's were more forgiving in the longer irons, with a higher trajectory than the 735's.
MP-60's short irons were very solid also, and hit higher also, but not really any easier to hit than the Titleist.

In the end, I'm going to stick with the Mizuno's just for the edge in the long irons. (They're still in a Titleist bag though, with my 905S, Cameron Newport, and ProV1's...can't give up the Titleist altogether!!)

Any thoughts?

That's what is fun about equipment. No one set fits everyone. I have the exact opposite experience. I received a free set of MP-60s the other day and decided to compare them against my 735.CMs. Not much difference in feel, trajectory, distance, ability to work the ball in the 2-4 irons between the two sets. But in the 5-P particualarly the 8-P is where the 735.CMs really were outstanding for me. The MP-60s hit the ball way too high in those irons and the ability to control the spin wasn't as easy as the 735s. Plus to my eye the 8-P are much better looking at address when compared to the MP-60s which tend toward a largeish P wedge again. I've always liked the forgiveness of the cavity back for longer irons but have never been a fan of less metal behind the ball in the scoring irons. As a result my brother is the lucky recepient of a free set of MP-60s and I happily keep on using my 735s.

The very reason I got the 735.CMs instead of the MP60s....I want to control my ballflight (instead of the design of my iron's doing it.) :fool:

I can't wait to see them in person, my local guy should have them by the end of this week, i hope. Post some pics will ya. I'm going over to what in the bag and I hope to find your there, i hope. Good luck with them. btw- i also like the looks of the 735s , they also look great, but I know the mizzies will be more soft and me like that.
