Anyone use soft/indoor practice balls?

Hey all

 

I am in search of practice balls for 2 functions.

1- So kids (ages 5-8) could hit them indoors and not break or cause much harm to anything.

2- Decent enough to be hit outside and travel an acceptable height and distance. Perhaps over a single level house.

 

I just don't want to buy a pack of 30-40 balls and have them be useless.

Those yellow foam type balls are good indoors. I use them in my living room during a long winter. However, it's easy to gash plaster and wood trim with a regular club, even a PW. I'm sure children will find it easier to hit walls and woodwork than I do.

The foam balls come in small packages.

There is the almost or P3 practice ball that Pelz also endorses. This is designed to only fly a third distance and is essentially a one piece moulded ball. I use them for both schools coaching but also with my county squad where i can turn a shot course into a much tougher challenge. Over a 50 yard shot that would require say a 7 iron they curve the same amount as over 150 yards so provide a reall challenge

Callaway has a very soft practice ball that I use indoors.
I've hit the windows and walls with them.
Great for chipping and pitch shots.
I've even hit some fairly hard shots into the wall.
They come in orange or pink.
Almost golf balls are much harder.

I also use and would recommend the callaway balls as well. Same positive experiences mentioned above.

I have hit the orange foam Calloway balls over a 2 story house.

I used to hit them full swing at the back of the house if the wife was away. I quit when I started having them bounce off, fly over my head and the fence, and landing in the alley.

I've added a cheap net, but still use the foam balls for full swing.
