Minnesota golf trip

We have had a group going to giants ridge for 7 years and we just finished our trip for this year. We are looking to go again in July but we were thinking about going to brainerd. We have handicaps between 10-18, any suggestions or insight would be appreciated.

The two Craguns courses are pretty good and will be a nice test. If you play Sunday/Monday you can get quite the deal. Grandview Lodge can also take care of you with the Preserve and the Pines. There's also Deacon's Lodge. Generous off of the tee, but the greens are elevated and fortress-like. Iron play will need to be spot on.

I'd also check into the Classic and the course that flies under the radar up there (no pun intended) is Golden Eagle. Google Brainerd Golf Trail.

Another idea is two hours west of the Twin Cities: Dacotah Ridge which has a nice Sunday/Monday stay n play package.

I really like The Classic. But to me, Giants Ridge/The Wilderness is a better destination for a guy's trip.

I think the golf courses are better and it's a great value.

If you go to Brainerd, you should play The Classic without question. The Preserve is good. Golden Eagle is the best value. Deacon's Lodge gets some love, but for the handicaps in your group, I don't know how much fun some people will have. It's difficult with a bunch of forced carries.

I have a small group of guys that do a "buddies trip" every year as well and this year we are headed to Brainerd. I ended up getting us a package deal that was surprisingly affordable through Cragun's. We have 2 cabins for 3 nights, breakfast and dinner each day and rounds at both Legacy courses, Deacon's and The Classic. You also get unlimited golf at Cragun's 9 hole course. Cragun's booked tee times at the other courses and each person pays Cragun's directly for the whole thing. It could not have been much easier.
