Take the challenge and match me a shaft!

Hi guys,

 

I am a 95mph swinger and was fitted to a ping i25 with stock cfs stiff shaft (Which I love to death) It fits my swing and is the longest/most controlled club I've ever hit.

 

That is not the problem though, my instructor told me to get stiff on everything so I currently have a Nike Vrs 2.0 covert tour driver with kuro kage black(not silver) 50 driver shaft (which I also love), the true problem is the 2, 3, 4 hybrids. I have no feel what so ever in these 3 clubs, they are also stock stiff kuro kage black, spec: S 74.0g 4.2˚ .370" Parallel 0.600" MID

 

 

My drive and my irons are all consistent but my hybrids(esp the 2h) is uncomfortable to swing(can't feel the head), inconsistent, just feels awkward. My purest hits on the 2h is 180y, 3h 172, 4h 165y if that helps.

 

Should I be switching to a kurokage black regular instead of stiff and see the difference?

 

If you have any suggestion for me I'd like to know, I'm a pretty smooth swinger and 95mph is max atm.

If you "cant feel the head", it's most likely a weight issue and not a problem with flex. The simplest thing to try would be just add lead tape to the head to get the SW up. It that doesn't work you probably need to look into heavier shafts.

No. A shaft that's 10 gms heavier might not give as much presense to the head as adding 10 gms directly to the head but it will still increase the 'heft' of the club. Shafts can have different balance points so how much can vary but the CG will virtually always be outside the hands so will add to the feel.

Sounds like just a SW problem. You can take your set to a club fitter to see if you can get the SW matched to your driver/woods. Just add lead tape to get the SW to be close to your others. I kind of had a similar problem. I cut my hybrids down to match the length progression in my irons so they would truly be iron replacements. Completely forgot to address the SW. Couldn't hit the ball no matter how slow I went. Added tape so that it went from low B's to D-2. Perfect now and I can really feel where the head is. I don't think it's a static weight problem that heavier shafts will fix. Plus this is a cheaper way to see if it fixes the problem.
