Planning a trip to Branson MO where should I play and what should I pay?

Buddy coming in from South Carolina, would like to play a couple of times in Branson, but have no idea of where we should play or what we should expect to play, let me know

I just played Buffalo Ridge, the course was incredible. Paid $80. They still have a couple holes under minor construction (they are playable), but the layout is fantastic. Great views, in great shape. Bunkers have all been redone and they are very nice. Clubhouse is a bit cheesy, feels like Bass Pro, but whatever. Who cares about that.

Payne Stewart is also nice, a very challenging Clampett design. Also has some very nice holes, just not the same views and sprawling layout as Buffalo Ridge. I think you can still find this course on some discount websites...? I know last time I played there we only payed like $45 through EZlinks.

I played at Buffalo Ridge in June...............been there many times when it was Branson Creek. I liked the clubhouse and the changes, it's a challenging course that looks far easier than it is. Doesn't beat the heck out of you.

I don't know if you have already played or not, but here are the top 3 must play

1. Buffalo Ridge
2. Payne Stewart
3. Ledgestone

You could flip 1 and 2, as they are both top notch.......some like PS better and some like BR better. The practice facility at BR is really nice, but the club house at PS is awesome and is great for Payne Stewart fans. Ledgestone is a great course as well, and should not be overlooked. You could very well like it better than the first 2. I live just north of Branson in Springfield Missouri, so I am very familiar with these courses. When you get done, make sure and drive south of Branson creek and go have dinner at Top of the Rock. It is awesome with great views and great food. It overlooks the par 3 championship course that just recently hosted a senior Tour event in June.

Definitely check out Top of the Rock, even if it's just for dinner and drinks. The views are amazing. Didn't play the Par 3 course last week when I was there, but going to try to play it next time. I played Buffalo Ridge, and minus a little bit of construction, the course was in great shape.

Played Top of the Rock yesterday. Drove down from St. Louis for a same day trip (amazing what golf does to you). It's only 9 holes and that comes with a $110 cost. Prime season rates are $175 for 9. We paid $65 for a replay which got us 18 holes.

Good place to check out the range (much cheaper), eat, check out the nature reserve, but probably a play it once and move on course. They're renovating Buffalo Ridge again this winter and I'm told there is a cave on #2 that they are going to open up and showcase some how.

The range at Top of the Rock is like nothing else in the world. Nature trail drive to the course is neat trip for anyone. The views around the entire place are hard to describe to those that haven't seen the place.

I like that they did the course in cool season grasses so it stays green for more of the year. Courses in our area are constantly brown. In the winter it's the fairways and tee boxes and in the summer it is the rough and the greens. Bent grass fairways and boxes can survive in the summer around here, but the water bill in the summer won't be too cool. In St. Louis we have one public course (Gateway) and one private course (Fox Run) that have Bent Grass fairways. They look so much nicer in the winter.
