A coworker was talking about losing 10 balls playing this course, which got me intrigued. Looks like the course is tight with a lot of forced carries. Also saw it on golf digest's top 50 most difficult courses list.

 

Anyone play it recently? Thoughts? How is the condition?

I played it last year for the first, and last, time. It was fun for about 6 holes. By the end of the round, it was just torture. Just too many blind/semi-blind target-style-golf shots - it's gets tiring, and un-fun.

I'll never play it again, and nobody else I've ever spoken to has said they'll ever play it again. But feel free to try it and become part of the "never again" club :-)

I knew a guy that was the pro there for awhile. He left because no one wanted to play there. He said they got no return play. He hated it and he didn't have many people to give lessons to because of the low return rate.

It is a crazy golf course. My buddy played golf at Franklin Pierce and that is their home course. I played it once and it was an interesting round. Everything basically is lateral hazard and of you don't hit your numbers your ball is gonzo. I think I shot 88 or something like that with a couple birdies. It was wild.

If you're a decent golfer I would say give it a shot, some people love it some people hate it

Ugghhhhh. Played it when it first opened... that was a long time ago... haven't been back.

Played many times and the conditions are not that greaty anymore.

Shattuck is a tough course. I played it twice this summer. It's definitely target golf and if you miss the fairway it's bye bye ball. I still find the course a fun challenge though, just make sure you bring extra balls...

Played it twice many years ago. Wouldn't go back even if it was for free!! If your tee shot rolls off the fairway say goodbye. I remember playing with my friend and we were paired up with two guys from Holyoke MA. They said they played Shattuck for their yearly punishment. They both played with single handicaps and they both shot in the low 90's............... I've tried to blank that experience out but I do remember my score had 3 digits.................
