I have to be honest here...my Cairo model...From the top line and back end it is not pretty...rolls the ball great so i guess would call it unique instead of ugly maybe? I think Mapleleaf14 has one I sent him that he can contribute a pic for us. I don't keep em around anymore although I had a couple players use em on tour. LOL What tha hell was I thinking??? LOL

Odyssey 3ball SRT is Huge! and looks like it shouldnt fit in your bag but having had a try of it it works really well but putters really shouldnt be the biggest club in your bag

 

Have you tried this putter before? It is so easy to make putts with. Don't knock it until you try it. Just b/c the putters are big, doesn't mean they suck.

Isn't "working well" all that really matters when it comes to putting? Out of curiosity, do you feel that the large size would ever be a detriment to your putting ability?

Putters are a personal thing - just because you think something is too big or ugly doesn't mean it won't work for someone. I use the Ping Doc 12.5 and love it !! If you think using a Scotty Cameron will help you sink more putts than so be it ?

i am a huge fan of scotty cameron putters but the original futura was such a horrible design its insane it was so ugly and the face was so thin that it as very easy to dent the club face

I've tried that Shotgun putter and it is pretty awful. However the stupidest putter was this thing they had at a local golf expo. It had a really tall, wide face with round sides. they also put a face on the sole of the putter so you could flip it onto the rounded toe and push it like a vacuum. Simply ridiculous

My vote for "ugliest" putter definitely has to go to this Daito putter:

 

 

Perhaps even more shameful is that it's a Canadian-made putter.

 

I like to call it the Gene Simmons of putters.

I have a buddy who uses a side-saddle putter, which I have tried, and honestly I putted worse. IMO they are dumb, for me, but I am sure it works for some.

 

I couldn't find the site that my buddy bought one from but I did find this site which had side-saddled putters and wedges....yup....wedges. Check them out it is slightly interesting.

Here's the "Cairo" putter that Dave from Big Oak was referring to...although I don't think it's ugly at all!! I really like it and it does put a great roll on the ball, as do all of Dave's putters!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

If memory serves me, and Dave can chime in, this one is the only one or one of a couple that has a sightline rather than a dot.

 

 

I'm thinking about pulling the head off of the UST shaft and putting a ferrule on and then reshafting...I think a classy looking ferrule would make it look even better!

Actually, I've tried most of them.

 

The Asserta, (one of the few I don't have), is actually a pretty good design from an engineering standpoint. It does skid less because of the weight being higher. It will also break sooner without the skid.

 

Now to some of my arsenal I've heard mentioned here:

 

Ping 1A - A nice putter with good feel. You can also putt left handed with it. (I've been known to do that after missing a few 3 footers). My friend threatened to throw it in the lake because of how loud and obnoxious sounding it is. Worse than the new drivers.

 

Stand Up putter Actually a pretty nice, very well balanced putter. Two problems with it, though: Leading edge too sharp. If you brush the ground behind the ball, you're dead, and the wind can blow it over and hit the ball while you're behind it looking at the line.

 

Oddessey 3-Ball Had to re-arrange all the clubs in my bag to fit it in. It's big, it's ugly, but it is a pretty good putter. A little too head heavy for me. I was going to remove the "Saturn rings", but you need a special friggen tool it doesn't come with. Easy to line up.

 

Tear Drop roll face I couldn't judge distance with it worth a darn. The newer ones are called "roll face" also, but are flat, milled faces. I turned one of those into a belly putter.

 

I have many others and I frequently take them apart and swap shafts with other heads. Even lots and lots of practice hasn't helped. My stroke and my putter is not nearly as much of a problem as my brain is!

 

As my friend put it - "Bill, it's not the putter, it's the putz using it!"

If you can't put with a traditional blade, and you need those 2 wihte circles to pick a line.help to you. Still amazed at Cally's home run with them.

Get a forged Milled Carbon steel putter and be a player putter, no need for all that business in a putter.

I don't know if anyone here has ever heard of Josh Kelley the singer/songwriter who has started to have some success more recently.

 

Him and I played junior golf together here in Augusta, he sent a putter for a helicopter ride on the 13th green that struck a tree and broke in half. Me managed to putt the rest of the day with his 2-iron and actually shot even par to force a playoff with me. In the playoff he borrowed a putter from one of the other kids and beat me on the third playoff hole. I still think that was against the rules, but whatever that was 10 years ago...

Nike Unitized...without a doubt. Break the shaft on another putter....simply re-shaft it.

 

Break the shaft on a Unitized? Nike will tell you that you're SOL.

 

How can a company make a club that cannot be repaired? Terrible.

Now thats just not true, I've done it and I've seen it been done. Hell I probably threw mine today.
