No offset drivers

Anyone have any good suggestions? I fight a hook Bigtime off the tee and want to play a power fade. This may be easier for me without messing up my iron swing if I went to a no offset or slightly open driver.

 

I currently game a 913 titleist driver.

Oh yeah, preferable some past models I can experiment with cheaply on eBay.


Also, if I make my driver max loft with that shaft thingy, does that open the face enough to matter?

Go to c1....flat and open. Open your stance just slightly, square the clubface to target, swing along the path of your feet...big ole fade.

The 913D3 looks very neutral to me. If you are fighting a hook with that club, I think a visit to a swing doctor would be beneficial. If you are using one of the other models, it might help to open the face a touch at address, adjust your hold on the club accordingly and swing normally to zero in on your problem a bit.

Most drivers are not offset, however a lot of glued heads will sit slightly closed. If you're currently gaming a Titleist driver, they sit about as square and neutral as anything out there. you may want to try using the C1 setting. It may also be worth playing around with shafts that have a different bend profile as shaft can have an influence on shot shape to a degree as well. Frankly, however, as the recommendation for a lesson or three to diagnose a flaw and prescribe a swing change to fix it would be the most beneficial and cost effective solution.

Lead tape on the toe of driver + Secondary tilt added to swing = all the fade you can handle

Trust me, ive been there. It's not the driver or offset. Btw most open faced driver ive found are the Covert Tour 2.0 Most sit between 4-6* open

I can't remember ever looking at a driver and noticing offset. If you don't like a closed face you should be able to open it easily since most drivers are now adjustable. I've got a D3 sitting slightly open and to me it looks square.

Thought my j40 was very square a lot of the Japanese drivers I've seen are very square but with today's adjustability it's easy to even open them up

The Covert Tour 1.0 and the 2.0 are some of the most anti-left drivers I've ever tried. And you can even adjust them more right biased.

I think the only offset driver I have ever seen were those Cobra ones back in the day. That being said, I know the JDM 430 SLDR sit .5 degree open.

To play a fade I just have the feeling that my left arm is moving left through impact. Works every time.

Yeah, I can swing path it, but I sometimes get handsy and hook it, or I hold off too much and almost slice.

I appreciate the lessons comments, and I have somewhat thought about it, but I am a home swing. I traded some work for a pro for 5 lessons about 6 years ago, and I just stopped calling him after 3, it was brutally bad, he didn't get me and I was hitting like sh&t, I seriously struggled for 6 months after those "lessons" and then had confidence in nothing, so while I know it is the right thing to do, I don't do this for a living so it is ok if I take my time and fix my struggles.

So to the lead tape point. I out my driver on my SW scale last night......it is like C6......WTF? My irons are generally d2-d5, and I am a stronger player. I am now thinking this is what I need to play with....

lessons can wreck a home made swing this late in the game. stick with what works for you. an adjustable driver really showed me a fade can be hit with the swing you have now. r11 and r9 esp versatile in this area. moving the weights works wonders. i fought a hook all my life till these came along
