I would call this an 006 proto. I think it may be a bit shorter from heel to toe (because of the weight of the Tellurium Copper).

 

To confirm - this is the same length as the 006.

 

We are trying to gauge interest in another limited run of Te Cu putters. PM me or Steve (Zmangolf) if you would buy one from a future run.

There are no longnecks planned in the tellurium copper run.

 

We are trying our best to expedite the next run of tellurium copper 007s and 006s.

 

For the long-neck fans, there will be a run of 007 customs in 11L17 mild carbon steel coming. Long-necks, goose-necks, swan-necks, 8802-style necks with flare tip shafts, maybe even some twisty-necks, etc. You pick the neck and placement, offset and toe-flow. A variety of finish options will be avalable, including black oxide, oil can, black star (a soft copper nickel plating that is very nice and low maintenance) and copper plating.

Just to clarify - on the custom 007s - when you order, you will be able to specify exactly what you want as far as a neck, placement, offset, finish, etc. There will be a list of the common neck options to chose from... but say you want something not on the list -- like a twisty-long-neck-goose bend-with half-shaft offset -- Byron will do his best to deliver it.

 

Each one will be different.

Help a putter novice out - does anyone have pics to compare a goose neck with a swan neck?

From what I understand the goose neck reduces toe hang and provides a better look at the ball.

 

Does the swan neck simply do this in a more elegant fashion?

The swan necks tend to be more S shaped and may be shafted closer to the heel... they also reduce toe-flow.

Exactly. I forget what year, but my cousin said to keep certain pennies before that year because they are worth a little more than the pennies after that year. Now pennies are just plated in copper.

If you want to use something to keep these copper gems shiny, I'd suggest Tarn-X.

 

It's a clear liquid that you wipe on with a soft cloth, then rinse off. Avoid any messy pastey polishes that get stuck in the hard to reach spots.

 

That said, I think the deep patina is fantastic.

The coppers look awesome! It's been about three months since I 'preordered' my 007, and I'm dying here waiting for the thing. Not sure which I'm more impatient to see: my stainless 007, or the first sunny day of the New England Spring...

Yes, the Club Byron 007 putters are coming out first and getting those out the door is the highest priority.

 

I will check again today with Byron and Steve and either steve or I will give you a status update on those -- I know the stainless 007s are rolling out the door. I understand the torture and the dying with each new pic and review.

 

Absolutely not. Three months is NOT a normal turn-around time for a non-handmade Byron. I'm not big on excuses, so I won't make any.

 

Waiting on the club byron stamp, which was screwed up, twice, was a mistake. Since stamping has to come before finishing on carbon steel putters, that mistake compounded the delay. Sorry for that.

 

Steve and I are working very hard to ensure that there is a consistent supply of 006s and 007s on hand in the future. The sequence of putters now in the cue to be made is this: CuTe 007s, 11L17 carbon steel 006s and 007s, custom neck 007s.

Drew, only the custom 007 are made of 11L17 carbon steel or all of the 007 ?

 

Anyway whats the difference between different grades of carbon steel, lets say 1018/1020 vs 11L17 ?

Here's the menu:

 

006s, 007s, and custom 007s will be done in mild carbon steel (11L17)

 

The putters done in 11L17 will have a variety of finish options:

Black Oxide

Oil Can

Copper plating (with a modest upcharge)

Back Star plating (a modest up-charge).

 

The Black Star is a very nice, low-maintenance copper-nickel-star finish. I will post some pics of a sweet Black Star plated Byron putter later tonight.

007s in solid copper (Father Time will take care of the finish on these).

The 006 Solid Copper putter is awesome. I liked it so much, I had to get a back up. I will have to get a 007 when available. Byron makes a great putter.
