KBS tour .355

Just ordered a set of KBS tour custom x feel shafts with the .355 tip and wanted to put them into my AP2. I was originally going to have roger dun do it but then I saw that I spent more on the labor than the shafts themselves so I am going to just do them myself. So my question is whether I need to trim the tip of my shafts or can I just trim the but end to the correct length. Also, anything else that is KBS specific to keep in mind when resifting. ANY reshafting information for a first timer is appreciated. Thanks!

You don't tip taper tip shafts. Install the shafts and butt trim to proper length. Use a swingweight scale and add tip weights as needed. Doing such is the difference between clubmaking and glue and chop building.

I didn't even think about swing weight. If I just have my cleaned ap2 heads and the KBS shafts, how do I determine how much weight is needed in each head?

You need to use a scale to do it accurately....

Going off what you are saying, it sounds as though you are about to take on something that is a little over your head at the moment. Although it's not rocket science to do so, there are certain guidelines that need to be followed to do it the right way.

Do you have the correct tools to take the task on? Way to accurately measure length, the right epoxy, ferrules, tip weights, good tools to cut? Do you know how to properly prep the shaft tip? All of may seem small and mundane, but it makes a huge difference in the performance/quality of the build.

If you are determined to take on the task yourself, then I would spend a generous amount of time doing some research on the proper way. There are tons of threads on here already, you just need to search them out. But something to also take into account is the money to invest in the materials/equipment needed to do it the right way. You will find that the cost of everything will not really make it of any great benefit unless you plan on doing it for the long haul. You can easily spend more on the equipment than it would cost to have someone do a set of clubs for you.

I do have the correct tools and understand how to correctly measure, cut, and attach the clubs head but totally forgot about swing weight. I have always just had someone else do this for me and wanted to try tout for myself.

Reshafted a set of Eye2+ with some KBS Tour pulls... I do measurements and the weight progression for the Eye2+ heads was 7g dead on (OK, one was 6.5g). It was just cut and glue basically. Swing weight came out D1 perfectly.

I tipped 0.25" off the PW shaft to stiffen it up a smudge since the 9-iron, PW shafts are the same for KBS Tour.

I don't personally like tip weights but will use them if there is no alternative.

Is there anyone who has just put the kbs tour x in ap2 with say a multi compound or tour velvet without any weight and then calculated the swing weight?

Swingweight can change in certain areas. Head weight (not al the same), shaft length, grips (MC's are lighter than Tour Velvets) , additional wraps of tape. You need a swingweight scale and NEED to dry fit each Club before assembly if you want exact swingweights !! Otherwise take what you get and don't worry about it. Comparing what others may have in their build is no way to build your set.
Read up on swingweighting and proper methods to achieve what you're looking for and build them right. Clubmakers charge $$ for this because they have (hopefully) the expertise and equipment to build a blueprinted set of irons !!
