the rtj course was supposed to aerate their greens in march, but based on what we experienced yesterday, there's no way that happened.

Personally, I don't think the greens were aerated any later than the end of march. I could be wrong. They were shaggy and uneven, but I didn't notice residual holes. If they had been mowed and rolled, I think they would have been all right. Although, there was a lot of sand, so I could be wrong.

Despite the assertions of the expert course superintendent who was wiping down our clubs with his muddy rag, I have a hard time believing the greens were mowed yesterday morning.

If I were to give the course the benefit of the doubt, they might have been thinking "we don't want slow play from this tournament" and there's an idea -- with some validity -- that faster greens slow down play. But, there's also a lot of room between 7 and 12 on the stimp meter.

I played poorly yesterday irrespective of the conditions (particularly on half of the holes on the back 9). Like City, my bad shots were unplayable, then even some good tee shots ended up in extremely poor spots (twice in faces of bunkers, once I was greenside behind a lone tree). After my second 3-putt on the front, one of them from 12 feet for birdie on 7(8?), I was steaming. I am a mentally fragile. There was also ZERO sand in the traps. Basically hardpan/dirt. ANT HILLS on many of the greens on the back 9 (Sully and me got a kick outta those). Fairways felt like a sink hole (also ant hills/mounds of dirt in them). Greens were running about 3 on a stimp (again, I am being serious). It was like we were playing air hockey sans air. It was laughable at a certain point. I know, we get it, the conditions sucked. Eagle, I will be curious to hear what they are willing to do about it. I am happy to read that they acknowledged the poor conditions.

Like Abb said, I really like the course, and the back 9 in particular (less 18). I was kind of talking it up to City on the ride over there. Very good mix of holes, and I've never seen it in poor condition. Just unfortunate. Life goes on. Still had a good time. Great group to play with. City's description of the "club" sandwich was spot on (the presence of bacon made up for the girth of the bread). The IPA on tap was pretty solid, and only 3 bucks. Winning a skin is nice. Eagle, thanks for making me enter the skins!

I speculate the greens were no greater than 12-7 on the stimp. The "kid" wiping down the clubs had a huge shi+-eating grin on his face when he said they mow them every day. He thought it was hilarious, and topped the conversation off with, "you gotta blame something, right?"
