Anyone used the GUERIN RIFE 2 BAR PUTTER?

Is the hype true?? I've heard that it is...

Just curious if anyone owns or has used the GUERIN RIFE 2 BAR PUTTER? Anyone who watches the Golf Channel as much as I do has surely come across the add/demo's for this putter.

The demo's they do make sense, and surely seem to be true (as far as the roll of the ball off the putter face). The test with the dew on the greens was pretty interesting....who would have thought.



I'm in the market for a new putter, as I'm using an old POS, this one kind of sparked my interest....just curious.

i used the blade putter and i really did not find anything special about it , but i probably is just me , i have a Yes Natalie and i like it better than the Guerin Rife .. i thought for me the ball come of the face better and rolled truer , but again it's only one less than average putters opinion ..

I've tried the 2 bar and it lefgt me little ho humish. Very soft feel, but I just didn't dig it all that much.

Find out for yourself. Goto an shop that has this putter and an outdoor putting green in the morning.

take the rife (try the new island series for more standard looking heads), and ANY other putter out and put on the dew covered green, just like the infomercial. IT WORKS.

I have a scotty mil-spec, and was looking for a scotty tour. until i found the Rife 400. (this is the older model, before he made the two bar).

after putting with it for a month and rolling more putts in, i thought i would try my scotty again.

I can now actually here the ball skipping on the grass with the scotty or any other putter i try.

there is no comparison.

The only reason this hasn't grown so big on the tour, is their greens are always at 11 stimp or higher so the tech doesn't come into play.

For us regular joes' there is no comparison.

Try it an you will see.

I have the RIFE 2bar blade offset and I can't say I've noticed a truer roll. I got the putter mostly for the fact that you can adjust the lie angle and weight yourself. At the moment, I'm still debating on whether I will keep it. I'm still tempted to get a different putter and custom order the lie angle. As already stated, I suggest you find a place to demo it and try it yourself.

I have one. Like you..when I first saw the informercial, I had to try one. I even managed to get to the course early in the morning to try the "dew test". I loved the roll on it but just coudln't get past the looks of a mallet. Now that the Cayman is in the bag, I have the best of both worlds. :bigwhack:

You just HAD to REMIND me that you have that cayman in your bag, huh, pitbull!! I already returned the antigua.

Thank God i'm rolling my 400 MID pure!! (only missed 1 putt inside 10' today, thanks to a 30mph wind gust... so let's see that was 8 (1) putts today, 1 30' birdie, 1 8' birdie, 15' par, 10' par (don't ask), point is these weren't gimmies. But, hey, there's nothing too this roll groove technology!! you guys hang on to those scotty's and mill's and i'll keep collecting the money!!!)

BTW, you get a gripmaster or iomic on that puppy yet?? wanna see updated pics. (HATED the winn grip, way to soft.)

ehhehee...sorry about that. :bigwhack: Yeah...I changed the grip on my Cayman. One round in the rain had that Winn grip way too slippery to use. It got so slimy in the rain, I could barely hold on to the putter. I put on a red lamkin crossline to test out for awhile. I'm currently debating a large red iomic next week. :rolleyes:

Great putter - worth the extra money.

 

I'vebeen on again, off again with my Rife 2bar Mallet and I've had it for about a year now, the roll grooves do roll the ball early and the technology does really work, and I had to re-work my distances when putting b/c of the truer roll and the extra MOI behind the ball due to the weights. I noticed I adjust the strength behind my stroke b/c of the extra distance I get from this putter's roll. I like the way the ball sets up too, it looks great and the bars help alignment so much.

 

So all things are positive regarding the putter.

 

The only flaw is that the face of this putter and the grooves are really soft, so be careful, it's easy to ding up the face and leave a pit-mark. Careful, keep them away from your other clubs so they do not bang around in your bag w/o a cover, b/c of the soft face.

i used to have a two bar mallet (now i have a new one coming :p) and i loved the roll. i found the alignment bars helped me quite a bit.

 

i like how it comes with a lie adjustment tool. i think most people would serve themselves to invest in a rife putter just for the ability to adjust the lie -- that is unless they've had a putter fitting or something.

Yeah, I like my putters very flat so the 2-Bar was great for me. I'm about 10* flat.

 

I've had several Scotty's and while they are very nice, I keep going back to my 2-Bar. Straightest putter I've ever hit. Great roll. Very soft, although you don't get the feedback you do on a Scotty. But I align my putts MUCH better with the Rife.

Great idea but I couldn't get used to the feel of aluminum. Th very soft, springy feel made distance control hard. Lie align and adjustable weighting are both good ideas. A great putter for short ones, but takes some adjustment to develop good touch if you're used to SS.

my gamer and a very good putter as I have tried everything, however it does have a fairly soft feel (aluminum) that many may have difficulty with and also can feel/look bulky at times which sometimes will cause me to yank/pull left

 

I am also looking at the centre shafted Yes Natalie as a back up
