Bridgestone J015

Hello JDM folks,

http://www.bs-golf.c...-products/j015/

I came across this Bridgestone Japan site for the new J015 line. I'm curious if anybody has any more info to share on how this line compliments the current J15 line. I'm particularly interested in the Driver with the glued head. I was a big fan of the J40 and J33 drivers, but did not get along well with then J715 adjustable model.

The J015 line is a custom fit only line of clubs for Bridgestone. Not available at most retail shops, they can only be bought and ordered at stores that have in house club fitters and club makers. You can choose the head weight, loft and face angle to the millimeter, as well as choose your custom shaft and flex. At the Bridgestone stores, they will fit you on Trackman as well as their proprietary software which shows you the launch characteristics of various shafts using the Trackman data. The biggest difference between it and the J715 line is the cost. The cost for the head only is $650 USD. Combine that with the shaft of your choice and you're looking at $1000 easy.

I've had a chance to hit it a few times and can't say that it feels much different from the J15 line. For what it's worth, I actually liked the J715 B5+ version better than the J015 driver. But for demo purposes, the club had an adapter and was not a fixed head, which I prefer as well, especially as Bridgestone's adapter is so limited in adjustability. However, the fairway wood was phenomenal and the irons felt great and looked nice.

Basically, Bridgestone is entering the Japanese market for custom clubs, like Epon, Miura, JBeam, etc. It's not going to be for everybody, but it's a niche market in Japan which is growing. Personally, I'd wait a couple of months to see what Bridgestone is coming out with in their new lineup in a couple of months.

Great info!! I picked up a like new 9.5 glued head for a decent price. Gonna throw in my rogue black 110 tour stiff and see what happens. I love the all black and milled face. I heard the J015 is endo forged which is cool and should pair up nice with my J15 cb's. I will give an on course review once I get it built.

Sounds like a good combo. I think Bridgestone's best clubs are limited editions like this one, primarily due to the fact that all of their off the rack clubs have a closed face and the limited editions don't. Also, since it's not adjustable it is indeed Endo forged.

For sure write up a review when you have a few rounds in with it.

I believed forged in Thailand. Did you also see the JGR Forged irons on the Japan site? They are some sweet looking clubs!

Just got finished with my first round (Torrey Pines South) with this driver paired up with Rogue Black 110 Stiff (Spieth shaft)

I was very impressed. Nice looking compact head with no alignment. Head feels like it has lots of pop but is not loud and annoying. I hit a couple on the screws and it gave me a nice penetrating flight a little longer than my previous driver. I feel like I have more control with this head and I did hit a lot of fairways. My swing was on today so that could be it too. Lower launch than the 310 classic I was playing which I wanted. The mis hits I had still went long so its pretty forgiving. So far so good!
