rangefinder 'pointy' app that works properly?

ive got a garmin watch and like it, but was wondering if theres an android app for pointing straight at a target, such as you see at ranges etc?

I use the golfpad app and it works great. Not quite what you're looking for, but you can use an aerial map and get exact yardages to lay up spots, bunkers, or the days flag position. It's awesome, and completely free.

Check out Mobitee.

I know it has a viewer that uses the camera lens like a laser. It can be activated while playing on a course, I don't know if you can activate it in your back yard. I got the app for free, I think it cost money now. I only use it very, very occasionally.

If you want as universal, work anywhere pointy thing, get a dedicated laser.

its for use at ranges or spare land etc, pointing at targets, i love the garmin watch but its no good at ranges or winter flags, thanks for the replies

I guess you missed the bit where I said it wasn't exactly what you're looking for, but it does exactly what you're asking. I use it at my range to determine distances due to constantly moving tee boxes.

as far as I can see it appears to be GPS and no pointy function, if it has its not getting mentioned, I'm just looking for a cheap alternative to a laser measuring device, as I said I'm happy with my watch for courses in general

I bought the Golfscape GPS Rangefinder [url="http://golfscapeapp.com/"]http://golfscapeapp.com/[/url] (add on to the GolfShot app) when it came out. Looked cool, you had an augmented reality GPS!
In practice it was pretty useless though. You can still find it on the iPhone app store but they haven't done anything on it. The last main version was released in 2012 with only a small bugfix in 2014.

I know you are looking for an android app but it should give you an indication on the usefulness of a 'pointy GPS' app.
