In new haul found a couple of beautiful Dean Ota custom persimmon woods, both look un hit, One has the Wood Bros type Ca soleplate. Exquisite work

If memory serves me, there was a recent Golfwrx thread which dealt with clubmaker Dean Ota and his passing.

 

Am sure a search will turn something up.

I have a set of clubs that I boiught last year that are from Quality Golf Products. Similar insert to your pic of the Dean Ota signature one ... got them from a lady in Birmingham (UK) so they were a long way from "home" !

 

These were the eBay listing photos.

 

 

 

 

After I bought them they just got chucked in the garage .. I need to clean them up and post some better pics :)

Ah yes - that's the one ... very nice! Saves me the trouble of trying to clean mine up ... it wouldn't ever compete with new and unhit :)

Bit of a thread bump .. I actually played the Quality Golf Products Sensation Forged irons for the first time tonight ... or some of them anyway :)

 

Went down to the range with the 2-iron, 6-iron and PW, and as soon as I got there it started raining, so rather than get soaked stood still on the range beating balls, I decided to grab a brolly out of the car and go for a few holes walking instead, armed with my three irons ... playing the back tees.

 

Played 2 balls on the first hole (431 yards Par-4) , 5 on the 2nd (200 yards - Par 3), 5 on the 8th (178 Yards - uphill Par 3) and 5 on the 9th (c390 yards - Par 4) ... so 17 "holes" overall, and came away with 9 Pars 7 bogeys and a 3-'putt' double. LOVED the irons ... S/400 shafts so low ball flight for me, but they seemed really solid and quite forgiving as well. Made a few 5-8 footers with the 2-iron, which I also hit ok off the tee and off the deck :)

 

1st: 5,5

2nd: 3,3,3,4,5

8th: 3,3,3,3,4

9th: 4,4,5,5,5

 

Will try them with the whole bag, plus the Sensation woods, another time for sure!

Am pretty sure the California Custom Sensations were RH Only.

 

The butterfly soleplates with 5 screws are the telltale signs of Cleveland Golf.

I have a couple Ota persimmon woods and they are beautiful. I'll try to locate them and add a few pictures if I have a little time.
