J33R Head feeling/sounding different after reshaft

what's the problem....

I bought a J33R w/NV65R for cheap with plans on reshafting as I usually play x flex heavier shafts..
I hit the club before the reshaft and it was the same as any j33R I've hit... SOLID... MUTED....

I reshafted first with Diamana Redboard 83X.. club felt more metallic, not as solid... shaft didn't work regardless.... went to Accra SC75 M5 next.. same thing even more metallic/tinny....

I've reshafted clubs before and noticed a difference in sound/feel depending on shaft but not to this degree... The main thing I loved about this head besides looks was how solid it was... Not it feels like any of the other LOUD, Metallic 460cc drivers....

Anyone have any ideas on what the problem could possibly be or have had similar experiences with this head after reshafts... It's just not as solid as before... Still getting same ballspeed numbers so I dont' think the face is cracked but I have no idea right now...

I've known this happen before when a friend reshafted a Nike Ignite.

 

He went a bit wappy with the heatgun I think and ended up with a different sounding club after the reshaft. in his case, 'tinny' became 'dull.'

 

The only thing we could think of was that somehow the hotmelt in the head had been melted by the heat (no pun intended) and had 'shifted ' within the head causing the change in sound etc.

 

I don't know if that's possible in your case. i know that the nike head involved had been hotmelted, so that's how we came to that conclusion.

 

Just a thought. Might be wrong in both cases!

I had a J33R 420 reshafted with a Diamana Blue and it changed the sound also to the more metallic sound you are talking about. From what I can gather, Bridgestone heads are more susceptible to acoustic changes with different shafts. Same thing happens with two R7 heads I have. One with a diamana the other with a accra SE80. The accra head sounds much more metallic than the diamana.

I had J33R 460 with Aldila NV 75. Sound SOLID and muted. Then I decided to shaft it with Graman UL780. Gained distance, but sound became tinny and metallic. I sold that driver and bought a factory shafted J33R Speeder 757. This one still sounded a little tinny/metallic.

 

I guess Aldila NV's sound the best with J33R heads? Maybe that's why they put it as a stock shaft.
